Lore Chapter 0.03: The Shattered Sky and the Twelve Judges
Source: The Star-Chart of the First Sage (Tablet 9)
Topic: The Fate of the Zodiacs (Constellations)
Timeline: The Moment of Separation (Pre-History)
When the Seven Sages decided to split the world to cage the Sins, they faced a problem: Who would guard the cage?
The Gods had fled. The Demons were the prisoners. Humanity was too weak.
So, the Sages looked up. They called upon the Living Stars—the Constellations. These were cosmic entities of pure law and order, known as the Twelve Zodiacs.
The Sages forged a contract: The Zodiacs would act as the "Chains" of the Hidden Continents.
Leo (The Lion) pinned down the Continent of Wrath.
Taurus (The Bull) held the weight of the Continent of Greed.
Scorpio (The Scorpion) injected poison into the veins of the Continent of Lust to keep it subdued.
But the strain was too great.
When the Sins rebelled during the Era of Silence, the shockwave cracked the sky. The Constellations shattered. They didn't die, but they fell from the heavens.
Their fragments—Star Dust—rained down upon the Mortal Realm.
Those who found these fragments became the first Kings and Heroes. They absorbed the power of the Zodiacs.
The Royal Family of Oakhaven possesses the Fragment of Leo (hence their Golden Lion crest).
The Empire to the South holds the Fragment of Scorpio.
But there is a whisper of a Thirteenth Zodiac. Ophiuchus (The Serpent Bearer). He did not fall. He did not break. He hides in the void between the stars, watching the cages rot, waiting to reclaim the fragments from the "thief kings" of humanity
