Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Looking around after years of blank horizon is something really… I started to tear up. Fuck yeah, finally.Ok, calm down, no need to cry. I'm finally out, but what should I do now?Wait, no, first question is: where the hell am I? It looks like a cave and it smells really bad. Maybe I'm in some kind of monster cave. Let's see, I'll use a spell called Scan, but I upgraded it. Now it's more like En from Hunter x Hunter. I can feel all around me, even the hidden.

Realizing I was underground, I focus my scan on going up and I feel a small village nearby. I start to walk, looking at the sky, the fauna and flora. In the Blank, I often used illusion and altering spells to make it feel alive, to paint a blank canvas with my dreams, but first, I'm not an artist, and second, I couldn't infuse life into it. Right now, everything around me feels alive.

Continuing to walk toward the small village, I see from afar a giant three-eyed skull and I instantly know where I am. This is Black Clover. Just then, I hear someone screaming at the top of his lungs, "Marry me!", which must be Asta. So either I'm before the canon, or I'm here while he visits his home.

Deciding to fly straight to the skull, I land in front of the First Wizard King. Analyzing the spell, it is really an interesting one. It saved him, if I remember correctly. He was dying because of something during his fight against demon Licht, so Secre sealed him and herself while searching for a way to save him.

Speaking of the wolf—or the bird—one with tired eyes lands on the statue.

"Hey," I say, waving my hand at the bird, and it looks at me with disdain. What a rude bird she makes.

"Do you want my help? I could unseal you two without much of a problem right now."Now she looks at me completely shocked.

"I mean, this is a really interesting spell, some kind of bonded seal. You can't become human because of his seal, and if he is unsealed without any precaution—"Looking at both of them."Yeah, I have something that could do the trick. The thing is that you and the Wizard King are more than five hundred years old."

She looks at me weirdly. Maybe I'm too casual about it, or maybe it's like me for a time in the Blank Room: I got used to it and found it comforting. Maybe it's the same for her bird appearance, or maybe I'm just a weirdo she never heard of, just showing up and giving a solution to all of her problems.

"Oh, you know what? I have a spell to talk to animals. Let's try it."

Learning all kinds of spells had become a routine, even if they were of no use in the room. With a snap of my fingers, a small magic circle appears around the bird's neck.

"Can you understand me?"She talks with a broken voice, not used to speaking after five hundred years. Must be hard. I mean, sometimes I would just make clones and talk to them. It was a bit weird, since it was like a hive mind when I made clones.

"Yes, I can. So what do you think? Do you want my help?"

"I don't trust you, but please help us. If you can offer us our freedom back, please do it."Small tears form in her eyes as she asks, almost crying.

"Let's see what I'm working with. So he used a spell that would have killed him. To save him, you sealed him in a statue, but due to that, you became a bird. Both are bound together. If you were to become human again, he would too—and die."

Looking at it, there are many ways to deal with this. Snapping my fingers—

"I have an idea. Would you mind if I put him in a new body? Right now, I can make a new body for him, then we break the seal. You become human, he too. I take his soul and mind and put them in the new body. With this method, there would be only one disadvantage for him: he would need to adapt to this new body, and you would need to take care of him, but that would take at most a month."

She looks at me full of hope. After so many years, she is finally going to see her friend, and she nods her head.

I start to make the body layer by layer. I make it in the image of the statue in front of me, trying step by step. The body takes form, and before me and Secre, his body is complete.

"Ok, Secre, I'm ready when you are—wait, no, I forgot."With a snap of my fingers, I conjure clothes around his body.

"Ok, now I'm ready."

She starts to glow like a Pokémon would when they evolve, but instead of getting a better bird, I get a girl. At the same time, the statue cracks, and I use the Ancient One spell to take the soul out of it, grab it with soul-imbued hands, and put it in the other body. As I do that, the glow from Secre stops and the new body starts to move.

Fast as lightning, Secre rushes to him and hugs him as tightly as she can, crying. Lumière looks around in confusion before he realizes what's happening. Feeling like I'm intruding on their reunion, I leave them for now and teleport to the village to see if there is anything interesting going on.

I see many people walking toward a tower away from the village. If I remember correctly, every year, on their fifteenth birthday, they all get their grimoire.Wait, is it the last day of the year? So everyone is fifteen when they get theirs? That would be logical.

When I get there, people are just getting in. I want to see how grimoires work in this world. Like Asta got his grimoire because he is the only one in the world who could wield it, as he does not have magic. But does that mean anyone can get any grimoire if they have the same magic?Wait, now that I think about it, in the first episode they said that a grimoire loses all its value when someone dies, but then it disappears… but Licht's didn't. There are way too many inconsistencies.

Walking in, I see an old wizard screaming at the top of his lungs that we are the new generation of wizards, so make us proud, or something like that. The ceremony starts. Many glowing books start to fly around, size and shape varying.

One of them glows brighter than the others and goes in front of a tall teen with black hair. Just next to him, there is a small guy kneeling, waiting for one of his own—but it never comes.

He starts to scream. Never heard someone without any help make that much sound. Are we sure he is magicless and not using sound magic?

Looking around, he is mocked, so to give him a small boon, I scan the area, locate his grimoire, and teleport it here before making it fly toward him. Stars appear in his eyes as he shouts about becoming the next Wizard King.

Before I can walk out, many grimoires start to get agitated and fly toward me. Flying around me, I look around and snap my fingers, and all of them merge into one. Everyone around me is shocked. Before anyone can say anything, I teleport away.

After so many years alone, I run away from the attention. I couldn't handle it. I really need to work on that.

(I want to give at least a little something to work through; don't want it to be only him just going world from world.)

Walking around, I feel Secre using magic. She seems to call me. Teleporting next to her and Lumière, I see her eyes still red. Must have cried for a bit.

"So let me present you our benefactor, the one who saved us. He is a—"She looks at me.

"Oh, I'm Edward. You can call me Ned."

"Ned, he is a weird wizard. He made your new body and took your soul out of the statue."

"Really? What kind of magic did you use?"He looks at me with stars in his eyes. If I remember correctly, like Julius, he is a fan of magic.

"I used conjuring for your body. At first, I just made organic mass, then I used organic manipulation to give it your body's parameters. If you were sick or anything like that, you don't have anything anymore, but you'll need a bit of adaptation time."

The more I talk, the brighter his eyes get.

"Oh yeah, and you don't need to worry about your magic since it resides in your soul, but for your grimoire, I'm not sure."

Thinking about it—did he get his grimoire back when he awakened at the end of the arc?

"Wow, how do you know that? In all of my years of experimentation, I never knew magic was a soul thing. Even if most of my research was on spells and discovering new kinds of magic, I never really looked into the origin of magic power or types."

He looks deep in thought, fully focused. He gets up, takes a stick, and starts drawing magic circles in the ground. Turning toward Secre, she looks nostalgic.

"So I take it he is always like that, right?"She looks at me happily, with a small smile.

"And I thank you for it."

"So what are you two going to do from now on?"

One is antisocial, and the other is an airhead who is focused almost only when it comes to magic.

"I don't know, but what will you do?"

"I dunno. Maybe I'll go join a Magic Squad, most likely the Black Bulls. They won't ask too many questions. It's a pretty laid-back squad, and hanging around nobles is not something I'd like to do."

What should I do? Joining the Black Bulls could be fun. I could help some of them, like Henry and his power, or train Grey with her power. In the anime it was just shapeshifting, but later she could heal—does she just transform injuries into healthy body parts? Oh, and there is Zora. His magic is interesting. He taught Magna how to make and use magic circles.

"If it does not bother you, can we follow you?"

"Yeah, sure, but you do realize that at least he is known throughout the kingdom, right? And that Light Magic is something only the royal family uses. What would it look like if we go to the exam? People might think he is some kind of bastard of the king, or worse, people might recognize him and ask how he is alive, and then people will come my direction."

"Could you change his face? And if people recognize his magic, we can just say he is a bastard. I mean, the king is known for being a lustful, cowardly, arrogant sack of shit."

Wow, I don't remember much of the king, but the description is accurate.

"Hey, Lumière, come here."She calls him like an owner calling a dog, and the dude comes.

"What do you think about joining a Magic Squad?"

"Yeah, sure. I mean, I have no responsibilities, so I can study different kinds of magic and get to know a new generation of Magic Knights."

Right—not for money or to help the kingdom, just to study magic. I cannot criticize him.

"Ok then, come here. I'll give you a new face, and you'll need to find a new name."

Waving my hand, his facial features change into long dark hair and green eyes, making it seem he is related to the king, and I make his overall features a bit rougher.

"So what do you think?"I look proud of my work.

"I like it, but there is something I want to know. Since this body is made from your creation, would you be able to control it against my will?"

His eyes sharpen, his mouth turning into a thin line, looking really serious.

"The truth is, I can control them even if I did not make them. But if you fear what I might do, let's make a contract."

I understand his fear. Even if I helped him, he doesn't trust me. For him, I'm an anomaly, especially by the standards of this world, where people are limited by elements and learn spells through their grimoires.

With a wave of my hand, green fire appears in front of me and I take paper from it.

"Here. This contract stipulates that I will never take control of your body and mind, except in cases where you ask for it directly, or in a fight where you started it."

I bite my thumb and sign it. He reads it and signs it.

"So reassured—even without that contract, I would not have used this magic. The most I would do with it is party tricks, or take control of someone who needs it, but never to use it in a fight or commit crimes."

He looks at me a bit guilty. I'd never use that kind of magic on anyone except in desperate measures.

"So, which squad will you guys be joining? I'm going to join the Black Bulls. Don't want to deal with too many nobles. I'm just going to have fun with them for a while, and then I'll continue my journey through the worlds."

They are experienced, and both of them have great magic. They could go to any squad; captains would fight to have them.

"I think joining the Black Bulls is the best choice for us. They are the least prone to ask questions, and even if loud, the least stiff of the bunch," Secre tells Lumière.

"Then it's decided. We too are going to join the Black Bulls," following Secre's suggestion.

"Great—then wait, do you feel that?"

Something akin to a black hole for magic. I feel it with my En spell. It devours the magic around it. Every single ounce of my mana disappears on contact with the sword.

"Wait here. There is something I want to see."

Not letting them speak, I teleport away and see Asta wielding his sword. I feel it—the demon Liebe inside it. He does not feel inherently evil, but more like nothingness. He and Asta start to feel the same as anti-magic flows through him. Even if it's a minuscule amount, I feel it.

What an interesting power.

With a single swing of his sword, Asta beats his enemy. Right now, I really want to study this anti-magic, but I'll let him have his moment with Yuno. I'll see him when we join the Black Bulls.
