Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 — The Song That Changed Vornis

The twins turned five years old.

In the Kingdom of Vornis, five was a symbolic age—an age where children of noble blood were formally introduced to the nation. And for royal children, the tradition was even grander:

A **Debutante Ball.**

It was the day when the youngest prince and princess would be presented to the entire noble society for the first time.

The Wynfall Mansion glowed with lanterns of silver-blue light. Carriages lined the streets outside. Nobles from every province of Vornis arrived in jewel-studded attire, eager to witness the rare appearance of the king's youngest children—children born from the king's only commoner concubine, and more importantly…

…children who did **not** awaken Fire Magic.

Whispers filled the hall long before the event began.

"What kind of magic do they use?"

"I heard they're white-haired like their mother."

"Sound Magic… was that not a forgotten type?"

"Will they even be useful to the kingdom?"

"I'm curious. Just what sort of children are they?"

And then—

The doors opened.

The hall fell silent.

Two small figures entered, holding hands.

Aster Wynfall and Astra Wynfall.

Dressed in pure white garments embroidered in gold thread, their white hair glowed under the light, giving them an almost angelic appearance. With matching silver eyes—rare and crystalline—they captured every gaze instantly.

They did not look weak.

They did not look like children born from an abandoned magic.

They looked radiant.

Even the nobles, trained to maintain composure, could not help but stare.

"Aster," Astra whispered, tugging his sleeve, "so many people…"

Aster squeezed her hand. "It's okay. We practiced, right?"

Astra nodded timidly.

They walked forward with their mother, Arlienne, who looked as beautiful as moonlight itself—yet her hands trembled slightly. Today, her children would show the world who they were.

And she had no idea what they planned to do.

***

One year earlier, when Aster was four years old, he had made a shocking discovery:

He could **create sound**—not just sing it.

He could produce music from his imagination, shaping melodies out of thin air. He could vibrate mana into soundwaves that carried emotion, rhythm, and even harmony.

But there was a problem.

It drained his mana instantly.

He collapsed the first time it happened, scaring Astra nearly to tears.

But he improved. Slowly. Steadily. Carefully.

Now, at five years old, Aster could create a full melody—**one song's worth**—before his mana ran out. And in that single song, he poured everything he had remembered from his past life.

One melody came to him again and again.

A beautiful, haunting piece from Earth—

**"Ordinary"**.

He rewrote the lyrics entirely, transforming it into a song about their mother:

About the miracle of having her.

About the love she gave them.

About the warmth that shaped their new lives.

He taught Astra every note, every breath, every expression.

Astra, with her naturally clear, pure voice, learned quickly.

Their harmonies blended perfectly, like twin echoes of the same soul.

And today… they would show it to the world.

***

When the formal introduction concluded, the king stepped forward.

"Today," King Valor Wynfall declared, "I present my youngest children—Astra of Wynfall and Aster of Wynfall. May the Light guide their futures."

The hall applauded politely.

Then the king added, "The children wish to perform something."

Silence fell.

Perform?

The nobles exchanged confused glances.

"Perform what?"

"Magic demonstration?"

"No, Sound Magic hardly counts."

"What can children even do?"

Aster and Astra stepped forward.

Their mother blinked rapidly, confused.

Even the king frowned slightly—he had not expected a performance.

Their half-siblings stared, curious and tense.

Aster inhaled slowly.

Astra followed.

Aster whispered, "Ready?"

Astra squeezed his hand. "Always."

Then—

Music filled the hall.

A soft, warm melody arose from nowhere, created by Aster's mana—gentle strings, distant bells, a delicate hum of harmony.

Gasps echoed.

"What magic is this?"

"This isn't just sound—this is music!"

"Is this… Sound Magic?"

"I've never heard anything like it!"

And then the twins began to sing.

Their voices intertwined—Aster's deep and steady for his age, Astra's bright and pure—creating a duet unlike anything Vornis had ever heard.

Their new lyrics floated through the hall:

**"Blessed are we,

For love found us twice—

In the warmth of her arms,

In the light of her eyes."**

**"Mother, our star,

Guiding night into dawn—

In this life you gave,

We learn how to be strong."**

Aster sang with the memories of two lifetimes.

Astra sang with a heart that simply adored her family.

Together, their voices radiated emotion so raw the air around them shimmered.

Their magic vibrated like ripples in water.

Nobles froze, stunned.

Servants wept openly.

Mana-sensitive mages felt the resonance down to their bones.

It wasn't just a performance.

It was a miracle.

In the center of the hall, Arlienne covered her mouth, tears streaming silently.

The king stared, shocked and speechless.

The royal siblings gazed in awe.

No fire magic had ever produced something this beautiful.

No magic had.

As the final harmony faded, the hall remained silent—breathless, overwhelmed.

And then—

Thunderous applause erupted.

Shouts. Cheers. Tears. Nobles rose to their feet in a standing ovation.

"A masterpiece…"

"Is this truly Sound Magic?"

"It moves the heart in ways fire never could…"

"Unbelievable. These children…"

"They may change the future of Vornis."

Arlienne ran forward and pulled the twins into her arms, sobbing into their hair.

"My babies… that was… that was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard…"

The king approached slowly, eyes wide in disbelief.

"Aster… Astra…" he murmured. "Your magic… your voices… this is not weakness."

Aster smiled gently.

"It's Sound Magic," he said softly. "It can be strong too."

The king could only nod, stunned.

The hall buzzed with emotion long after the performance ended. The nobles' gazes had changed—not pity, not skepticism, but awe.

The forgotten magic had awakened.

The debutante ball meant to introduce two children…

…had introduced **legends**.

And as Aster held Astra's hand and looked at the cheering crowd, he knew—

*This was only the beginning.*

Together, they would bring music to a world that had forgotten it.

Together, they would rise.

Together…

they would become the greatest singers Vornis had ever seen.
