Lin Fang was making tea when Li Yun returned. Lin Fang glanced at her for a bit, seeing the blood stains on her lips. He took out a first aid box, passing it to her, while he himself served the tea.
It wasn't the first time for her to come back with injuries. After her parents' death, she hadn't just protected him, but she had been hunting for heavenly demons.
Lin Fang passed her the cup of tea before walking back into his room. Though she had been protecting him, somehow, he always felt a strange kind of fear around her. Despite living together for years, he couldn't remember a single time talking normally. It was either that she was saving him from those heavenly demons, or he was mending her wounds.
When Lin Fang looked out at the city, the sun was already at its peak, and the city was in slumber.
"It's only been 20 days, but it's already here," Lin Fang murmured, taking out a tiny blood red capsule, crushing it with his teeth, releasing the strange, disgusting, gluey substance in his mouth, as he swallowed it calmly.
Since Lin Fang came to this world, he had been taking medicine sent by his parents. Every few months. But with time, it seems like the time frame to take medicine is shortening. At first, he only needed to take one within a few months' time frame, but now he needs one every 20 to 30 days.
If he didn't take this medicine, he felt fear, fear beyond fear, fear from his sister, fear from himself, fear from everything, except for the heavenly demoness.
Once he stopped taking medicine, he would see a special illusory figure of a silver-haired woman, the only one he wanted to get close to; she was far different from these cold demons he saw in dreams. She… she was warm. She always wore a translucent white veil, which hid her face, yet he felt like the most beautiful woman in the world. The strangeness was quite obvious despite her being the most gorgeous woman he had seen, but he felt warm, not cold, not lust, just wanting to be closer to her.
After taking his medicine, Lin Fang went to sleep, but he was unable to fall asleep because of the bitterness of the medicine still lingering in his mouth. But he closed his eyes, sinking into the blank dream that he lived in.
For Lin Fang, life wasn't easy in this strange world filled with beautiful demons ready to devour him every time, but even the peaceful sleep wasn't that pleasant. Whenever he sleeps, he dreams of either a demon seducing him or is completely blank space, nothing but darkness, where he moves freely, but something always seems to watch his every action, hidden beneath the darkness.
It wasn't a pleasant experience, but it was still better than being devoured by demons and becoming a tool.
Lin Fang wandered in the endless darkness, as the path seemed to be endless, no matter where he went. In the meantime, his every moment was watched by a strange creature hidden beneath the darkness. It was like a chained figure caged with the darkness. There, the just rough blackish image was visible, which was almost non-existent in the dark world.
When Lin Fang woke up, it was already nighttime, the sun was setting, the moon was on its way to rise, the whole city was lit up in special light, which gave off a refreshing feeling to the eyes, revealing the fatigue, helping people remain more thoughtful during the peak of dangerous hours. The whole world woke up with demons working like normal. No one would believe this world was being invaded by otherworldly beings who mostly hunt at night.
Lin Fang walked into the kitchen to prepare some food. As he walked out, Li Yun was sitting cross-legged meditating in the living room as usual. He tossed the ring back at her before stepping into the kitchen.
She caught the ring easily before putting it on. As she wore a ring, her shadow seemed to fade a bit, no longer as dark as before.
In the kitchen, Lin Fang prepared a meal. It was the only thing he had learned while living in this world, except for cooking and dishwashing; he had nothing else to show off.
After the meal was done, Lin Fang took some extra food and passed it to his neighbourhood. When he rang the bell, it took some time for the door to open. An old woman walked out from inside, her face filled with wrinkles, her hair completely white; the woman was taking her last breaths.
"Lin Fang…" The old woman said, touching Lin Fang's face, as she invited him in.
Lin Fang went in and helped her to sit while gently feeding her the warm soup he brought. This old woman can be considered among the very normal people Lin Fang had seen within this world. This woman's husband died in a car accident, since she had been living alone in this apartment. The child had already shifted far with his family, never ever looking back at his mother.
This woman was quite special, that why she was still alive, though Lin Fang never understood what was special about her, but she was among the few people who gave him a feeling of warmth, which seemed to be a luxury in this world.
Despite her love for her husband, she was still here, taking her last breath as a human without being corrupted by the heavenly demon or becoming a tool for their descent. Maybe the old woman never sought love or whatever the reason was, Lin Fang knew nothing about it, but he just fed her because he had more than enough for himself.
As he had finished feeding the woman, he was ready to leave her house when he sensed that the woman was no longer breathing; she had fallen. Lin Fang quickly touched her body to check, only to find her body's warmth vanishing. Despite the woman's calm death, Lin Fang didn't feel much about it. He had seen too many people dying in so many brutal ways that this peaceful death felt strange.
Just as he was thinking about informing about her death to the police so his name will remain clear. Nowadays, reporting causes nothing. Police don't even bother to arrest the criminal, but informing them can clear the dead body and reduce the chances of a demon descending on her decayed body.
Lin Fang was about to call the police when his sister walked in carrying a knife, which made him shocked, but before he could react, his sister cut open the woman's chest, gouging heart before crushing it into minced meat. Seeing this, Lin Fang was almost dazed for a moment, but the sweet scent of the blood made him drool. but he quickly woke from this sudden shock, staring at his sister for explanation.
Li Yun didn't say anything; instead tossed the remaining crushed heart at him. As she flung it into the air, a shiny pink pearl glowed within the meat.
Lin Fang's body reacted automatically as he opened his mouth and devoured the blood pearl like a hungry wolf.
Seeing Lin Fang turning into hungry wolf as licked the blood around his mouth, his gaze locked on her, she remained calm unbothered by his hungry gaze as he walked on all fours like an animal slowly sniffing the blood scent but the blood had stains around the room had already turned black the woman's body was started to decay just after He devoured her heart pearl.
Seeing his food becoming inedible, he looked for the new meal, Li Yun. Though she wasn't smelling pleasant like the old woman, it was still good to have a meal rather than sleeping hungry.
He walked creepily towards her, taking a circle around her before pouncing on her, his jaw wide open, teeth turning into sharp blades ready to grab the biggest chunk of meat. But before his teeth could sink into her skin, his body was held by a handsome silver silver-haired man who stood in front of Li Yun.
The silver-haired guy didn't even waste a second throwing Lin Fang at the wall. But Lin Fang had already lost his mind and quickly jumped back at him, but this time, there was one extra person to help Lin Fang. The old woman's skeleton had become a vessel for heavenly demons, as he also came for Li Yun.
She didn't flinch at all, just took out a piece of paper and threw it on the black skeleton, which was moving towards her. Once the paper made the contract with the skeleton, both turned into ashes instantly. Lin Fang was beaten into pulp by the silver-haired man; his face was bleeding. His body remained motionless on the ground.
"This beast is becoming more and more fierce; if it continues like this, we may not even get a single benefit of raising him. We have to get more food for him." The silver-haired man said to Li Yun seriously before dissolving into her shadow again.
After he left, Li Yun picked up Lin Fang and called the police to clean up this mess. With her demon hunter identity, there is almost no doubt about her; even if there is, no one cares.
