Chapter 62 - The Miracle

Christopher's calm logic was the only thing keeping me from completely falling apart. It was thin, but it was something.

"Let's go home," he said firmly. "We'll stay together and wait for updates. This place isn't good for you right now."

I didn't argue. I didn't have the energy. I just let him and Marcus and Eli walk me out to the car. The drive to the estate felt unreal, grey sky, quiet roads and my reflection in the window looking hollow and broken.

The house was too quiet when we got there. Usually it buzzed with activity, but now it felt heavy, like something bad was hanging in the air. My mom met us at the door. One look at her face and I lost it again. She didn't ask questions. She just opened her arms.
