One Thursday, Chloe was sick, so it was just me and Silver in the study room. We were stuck trying to figure out why our loss function kept blowing up.
"I think it's in the coding," I muttered, scrolling through lines of code.
"Want me to grab coffee?" Silver asked. "My treat. You've been staring at that for an hour."
"Yeah, okay. Thanks. Black, please."
He came back with two cups of coffee and a blueberry muffin. He slid the muffin toward me. "You looked like you needed sugar."
"Oh. Thanks." I took a bite. It was actually really good.
We worked quietly for another hour until I finally spotted the problem… a decimal in the wrong place.
There it is," I said, relieved.
"You're a machine," Silver said, shaking his head with laughing. "I would've been here all night."
"It was a dumb mistake."
"A dumb mistake you found." He saved his work and shut his laptop. "So, you always this focused? I never see you at any of the CS department mixers."
I shrugged. "Not really my thing."
