Night fell.
A vehicle slowly drove into a fruit-processing factory on the outskirts.
Once it entered, the dark interior lit up.
A hidden secret base appeared before them.
"The identification number for this fallen angel is finalized. AO-037, Abnormal Organism."
Stepping out of the vehicle, the leader told Rojin.
"Got it."
Rojin nodded.
The special-task soldiers behind them were busy transporting Raynare to the lab. Rojin and the leader walked into a futuristic underground corridor.
Surveillance cameras lined the ceilings and walls. Armed troops with the scent of gunpowder on them made the importance of this base obvious.
After passing a door requiring fingerprint and iris authentication, the two entered a hall full of busy researchers.
This was one of the Human Protection Agency's research facility bases.
"Good evening, Dr. Jean. I brought you the fallen angel you requested."
A mature woman with disheveled hair lifted her head from a mountain of documents.
Who are you again?
Fallen angel? What's that?
Her confused expression lasted around ten seconds. Rojin wasn't irritated; he simply waited.
Dr. Jean was always like this—once she entered work mode, she forgot about everything else.
"Oh, that one."
Dr. Jean slapped her forehead, only now realizing it.
She had almost forgotten that she had created a special research project about this topic before.
The general content was to study how these humanoid beings with physical wings were able to fly stably, approaching it from a scientific angle.
"Come on, take me to see it."
Remembering this, Dr. Jean excitedly pulled Rojin toward the laboratory.
Rojin felt nothing at all inside as she pulled his wrist. He didn't feel anything unusual even though she was a mature and sexy blonde woman.
If anything, her aesthetics were so bizarre that most normal people found them hard to accept.
To the point that normal people simply couldn't develop any strange thoughts about her.
"Where's that fallen angel?"
Entering the lab, Dr. Jean impatiently looked at Rojin.
"Ah, the special forces outside are inspecting it. They should deliver it soon."
Even though they had already captured the fallen angel, the facility would still run a comprehensive check.
"I see."
Nodding, Dr. Jean sat down on the dented surgical table.
Looking at the pitted surface, Rojin's eyelid twitched.
It was most likely the work of previous containment subjects she had forcibly strapped down.
Around the table were large glass cylinders, each filled with limbs and organs.
Some were from humans, some were not.
"By the way, that kid named Tomoya something… you guys didn't consider recruiting him into the agency?"
Scrolling through her tablet, Dr. Jean suddenly asked.
While looking over the fallen angel's data, she had noticed that the boy seemed to have encountered such incidents more than once.
It was almost certain he had a special constitution.
Usually people like that would be exceptionally recruited.
"He's lacking in many areas."
Rojin shook his head.
"Other than the special constitution, Aki Tomoya doesn't have anything noteworthy."
"He has decent initiative, but action without planning is just recklessness."
"And recklessness is something we cannot afford."
To be fair, Tomoya, as a high school student, didn't have any major flaws.
He had a few small issues, but nothing serious.
The reason he wasn't recruited was simply because his head was full of unrealistic fantasies.
A mix of reluctance and arrogance.
It was a common trait among those who had just gained abilities.
When told they had special powers, it was natural for some inflation to occur.
If the agency were in dire need of manpower, those flaws could be corrected over time.
But the agency was busy, not desperate.
As one of the most important and even core subordinate departments, the research facility was never short on talent.
If Tomoya had, like that previous high school student, discovered clues independently and found the agency's existence using only his abilities, he would've been accepted.
Even if it had been under lenient conditions, he still proved himself.
But Tomoya had no exceptional strengths or weaknesses.
A special constitution that attracts anomalies wasn't rare enough for special treatment.
Someone like him was better left to grow freely, with a few task force members quietly keeping an eye on him.
Before long, the fallen angel Dr. Jean wanted was delivered.
"Well then, I'm heading out."
"Go, go."
Excitedly strapping the fallen angel to the table, Dr. Jean waved without even looking at him.
Seeing that, Rojin left the lab alone.
His part was done.
Even though Rojin considered himself a good student after training in agency knowledge, this was still best left to actual experts.
Avoiding causing trouble was already the best help he could offer. In front of these world-renowned specialists, he always felt like an illiterate person.
Just as Rojin was about to leave the research facility and head home, a clear voice suddenly rang out.
"Where's my pillow?"
A girl with long hair fading into pale purple stared directly at Rojin.
She looked like a princess straight out of a fairy tale.
Fair skin, curved brows, and a pair of starry eyes.
And indeed, she was a princess.
"Um… Princess Syalis…"
Rojin covered his forehead in pain, screaming internally.
How did he forget about this girl?
She looked harmless and cute, but in truth, she was an absolute disaster-class existence.
For the sake of good sleep, she would do anything.
Some wicked researcher once lied to her, telling her that items taken from containment subjects could help her sleep.
So she actually plucked her way through every containment subject in the whole base.
It was said one particularly uncooperative subject was beaten by her for an entire afternoon.
When researchers arrived, the creature was curled in a corner like a bullied kid.
It stayed unusually calm for a whole week after.
"Where's my pillow?"
Princess Syalis repeated, stepping closer.
She had already decided: if he didn't bring back that fallen angel, she would shave his head.
"In there."
After hesitating, Rojin pointed at the laboratory.
Sorry, Doctor.
"I see."
Happily nodding, Princess Syalis pulled out a giant pair of scissors and walked straight in.
A few seconds later, a heartbreaking scream burst out.
"My specimen aaahhhh!!!"
