Joyce buys Christmas lights and hangs them all over her house to communicate with Will. Against all logic, she succeeds. The lights blink in patterns. The alphabet wall she paints glows with messages:
"R-U-N."
Meanwhile, the boys learn Eleven has the ability to find people or things using something she calls "The Void" — a dark mental space. She tries to find Will and hears him breathing heavily, frightened.
Hopper's investigation leads him toward Hawkins Lab, but the officials forcefully push him away.
In the woods, a body is discovered. Hopper fears the worst. The town is told the corpse belongs to Will.
But Joyce refuses to believe it.
