Ronin and Benson arrived at the camp Ronin was in charge of just as the sky above began to dim slightly, the sunset's light filtered through the trees unevenly.
The moment they crossed the outer perimeter, a strange noise reached their ears.
It was cheering.
Ronin frowned immediately, his steps slowing as he tried to place the sound.
This was not how a cult-operated base was supposed to sound, especially one meant for kidnapping and silent transport.
"What happened?" Ronin asked sharply.
Before anyone else could answer, a black-robed man hurried toward him, his face flushed with excitement.
"Boss! Boss!" the man said eagerly. "We caught a big fish!!"
Ronin's expression stiffened. "Big fish?"
The man grinned widely and gestured for them to follow.
Without waiting for confirmation, he turned and rushed deeper into the camp.
Ronin exchanged a quick look with Benson, both of them already feeling something was wrong, and followed.
