Chapter 2 - The popular boy

Dan is the most popular boy in the entire school. There isn't a single person who doesn't know him—students, teachers, even the principal know exactly who he is. People know him for being kind, calm, attractive, great at sports, and sociable. In simple words, he's the perfect student. And obviously, that has made many girls notice him, receiving confession letters almost daily. It doesn't bother him, but he hasn't accepted anyone either, since he doesn't want a relationship right now.

Dan is 17 years old. His friend group is made up of Josías, Jhonatan, and Brandon, though the three of them aren't as popular as Dan.

Out of the group, Dan and Josías are the only ones without girlfriends. Dan because he doesn't want one, and Josías because he doesn't have time to date and isn't interested in anyone at the moment.

His three friends are proud to have the most popular boy in school as their best friend. They've known each other since elementary school, and they've been through a lot together, so they trust each other completely.

Dan lives alone in an apartment. He only knows how to cook scrambled or fried eggs, so when he gets tired of eating eggs, he eats instant ramen instead.

Dan keeps a secret: his parents pressure him to continue being the "perfect student" he already is. Dan doesn't like this because he doesn't want others to think he's arrogant or that he feels superior to everyone else.

Dan's mother works as a lawyer, and his father is a company manager, so they had no problem letting Dan live on his own.

A normal day at school for Dan includes talking to almost everyone he runs into in the hallways. He enjoys talking to people and getting to know them. He also helps teachers with some tasks—not to make them like him, but because he's been doing that since elementary school.

Even if he'll never admit it, Dan is scared of heights. He usually declines invitations to amusement parks because he knows his friends love adrenaline, something he doesn't enjoy as much.

What Dan hates the most is when people think badly of him—thinking he's selfish or unpleasant. He just wants to get along with everyone, the way he already does.

One day, while Dan and his friends were walking through the hallways with everyone's eyes on him as usual, he passed by a classroom—the room of the quietest and "most invisible" girl in school. When Dan turned his head, he saw Naomi.

"Who's she?" Dan asked Jhonatan.

"She's… Naomi, if I remember correctly. But people call her the invisible girl because you rarely notice she's even there," Jhonatan told Dan.

"Why do you ask, Dan?" Brandon said curiously.

"No, nothing. I just wanted to know," Dan said as he started walking again toward his classroom.
