Chapter 24 - Omake: Intersection with the Detective

During the passage between the first world and Wednesday's world, I stood on a platform overlooking the shifting space and time. Various images of people can be seen and the next second it shifts to a place filled with misery and the next with mythological creatures one can find in books.

I looked around with a questioning gaze, "So many worlds yet I couldn't decide which one to go first. Should I go to a place I know or jump to a random one? Should I be a hero, a villain, a compassionate friend, or somewhere in between?"

I sighed and sat down as I watched the glittering space of multiple worlds as if it was a sea of stars. The amount of time passed cannot be measured as the passage of time slows everything down to almost a standstill.

While I was still in a daze, a clockwork portal opened not far from me. A young lady dressed in a detective's outfit walked out with a suitcase in her hands. She looked around for her portal to do her next investigation but saw me looking blankly at the space ahead.

The detective was surprised to see anyone in the gaps of space and time but she slowly walked towards me ready to greet a fellow traveler between worlds. As she got closer, she felt an energy similar to that of her reaper friend and felt nostalgic. It already gave her a good impression before she met me.

She stood by me and tapped my shoulder, "Hello?"

The tapping snapped me out of my stupor before turning my head. I saw a ray of sunshine as her golden hair matched her smile. Eyes as blue as the skies above looking over with curiosity. Her demeanor exudes intelligence as her detective outfit perfectly complimented

I was shocked to see another person here but I hurriedly said, "Um hi there. I didn't expect to see anyone here."

She giggled and said, "Me neither but to my surprise, I'm glad I'm not the only person who can access this place. Allow me to introduce myself, I am the great time-travelling detective, Amelia Watson. Ame for short."

She posed in a cute way as she held her hat looking all serious.

I chuckled at her actions and replied, "Hahaha my name's Y/N Ashborn. I'm still a little new here."

She looked at me and explained, "Don't worry, I'll help however I can."

I hesitated for a moment before saying, "Thank you, Ame. Well it's a long story, so I'll start from the beginning..."

We sat under the light of the world as if stars glitter the sky. I talked while she listened. I talked about my past life and troubles and my eventual death, only to be awakened in a new body. Newly acquired powers that were foreign to myself and the responsibilities that come along with them. I told her my current problems and how I felt lost. This continued for an uncertain amount of time but Amelia listened with wonder with her eyes as well as understanding.

In the adventures Amelia had experienced before, she had to deal with problems alone until she found life-long friends to help and grow together. They eventually established a group called "Myth" as their activities ranged from having fun to solving problems or plain chaos.

Unfortunately Amelia had to travel to another timeline to help solve a problem that popped up. While their farewell was tearful, she vowed to come back as soon as she finished fixing the problem in the timeline. Her friends understood and couldn't wait for her to come back. And before she knew it, she was here listening next to her new friend.

After quite a bit of time, I finished my story to Ame. She was pondering and digesting the information and came up with a suggestion.

Amelia answered, "Since your old life had passed, why not make some of the choices you didn't have control over in this life? After all, you were lucky enough to receive a second chance of life. I recommend helping those in need and see how it goes. That's what I did and now I have friends I will never ever regret meeting. Maybe take a leap of faith and face the future with confidence."

The more Amelia talked, the more her face lit up. Her unwavering confidence to face the future gave me a spark to move forward. It's as if there was a golden glow radiating from Amelia. She turned to me and saw my surprised face and smiled gently.

My face turned red as I turned my face to the side unfortunately Amelia saw this and continued to tease me by poking my cheek from time to time. My ears turned red as steam could almost be seen exiting from it.

Amelia laughed at my embarrassed look and felt a new life-long friend could be made. Thinking about it, she could introduce me to her other friends, especially her reaper friend. She believed she and Y/N could be great friends.

I finally got my blush out of my face and calmed myself down before turning to Amelia and thanked, "You're right. I really should keep the past in the past but still remember to not take this life for granted. I'll cherish this life as well as the friendship along the way. Speaking of which, will be my first friend in this life, Ame?"

Amelia smiled much brighter and said, "I'm more than happy to be your first friend."

She started talking about her life as well as her previous investigations. Her latest ones were the biggest impacts in her life, which led to her meeting her friends. She explained all her adventures as well as their shenanigans for hours.

She also talked about her dog, Bubba as well as her loyal investigators (Actual Gators). She talked about her dream of investigating lost timelines and correcting them so everyone could have a smile on their face. I praised her dream and believed she'll be able to do so in the future.

We just sat in silence for a long while before she stood up and said, "Well my dear Y/N, as much as I would love to stay and hang out for days on end, I still got a timeline to correct."

Amelia fixed her hat and continued, "After all, this won't be the last time we'll see each other. Maybe we can meet each other again here. You're the only other person I've seen here besides Kronii."

I chuckled and stood up facing her and said, "We will meet again in the future, Ame. Thank you for clearing my mind and giving a reason to live again. You really are a beacon of light in mine as well as everyone you've met along the way. I will never forget you, Ame. That is my promise to you."

Amelia tilted her hat down to hide her embarrassment but I can feel she was very happy and smiling from what I said. Before long, she bounced back up with a big smile on her face. She gave me a brief hug, to which I reciprocated. She let go and grabbed her suitcase as the clockwork portal opened near her.

Amelia smiled as she waved and said, "It's farewell for now, Y/N. We'll meet again someday~!"

I waved back with a smile and said, "Take care, Ame!! See you later alligator~!!"

She happily nodded and entered her portal before it slowly closed, leaving me behind.

I teared up but wiped my tears and whispered, "Thank you so much for everything, Ame. I hope to see you again in the future."

After saying my thanks, I glanced around before I randomly opened a World Portal to start my new life and adventure.
