Chapter 1 - The young master awakens

Chapter 1 - The Young Master

Awakens

A deafening honk tore through the night.

Zhang Wei's eyes snapped open.

His breath hitched, and for a moment, he couldn't tell where he was. The blurry neon lights outside the

limousine window streaked across his vision like pieces of a broken dream.

He wasn't in his small apartment.

He wasn't on Earth-at least, not the version of Earth he knew.

He was... somewhere else.

Somewhere richer, grander, and far more dangerous.

The vehicle glided silently past skyscrapers draped in holographic billboards. Floating platforms soared above the high-rise skyline, monks in modernized Taoist robes stepping across the air like immortals. Cultivator soldiers patrolled the skies. The city buzzed with spiritual energy as naturally as electricity.

Modern China-except fused with cultivation.

And he-Zhang Wei-was no longer an ordinary man from his previous world.

He was now the villain of a novel he once read.

His heart pounded as memories poured into him like a

tidal wave. Images, emotions, and unfamiliar experiences merged with his own consciousness.

Zhang Wei.

Twenty-two years old.

The only son of the world's richest man, Zhang Long-

the ruler of the Zhang Global Conglomerate, richer than nations, feared even by hidden cultivation clans and shadow aristocracies.

In the original story, Zhang Wei was an arrogant young master.

Cruel.

Wasteful.

Jealous.

The perfect stepping stone for the protagonist-the so-

called "Son of Destiny."

And in Chapter 5... Zhang Wei died.

Beaten, humiliated, and discarded like trash.

A cold sweat ran down his spine.

"No way... I transmigrated into this idiot?"

He stared at his reflection in the tinted window-

handsome, sharp-eyed, elegant, dressed in custom haute couture. But his expression twisted with frustration.

"Of all characters... why the villain destined to die early?"

As if answering his despair, a sound like a metallic

chime echoed inside his mind.

Ding!

[Villain System initializing...]

His eyes widened.

A system?

A villain system?

[Initialization complete.]

[Welcome, Host. You have been bound to the Villain

Immortal Ascension System.]

Zhang Wei froze.

Immortal... Ascension...?

He leaned back in the leather seat, heartbeat

accelerating.

"Explain."

[Host has become a villain threat to the world's

protagonist. To avoid being killed and reduced to cannon fodder, you must suppress, disrupt, or destroy

the protagonist's luck.]

[Every act of villainy earns Villain Points (VP), cultivational rewards, and pieces of immortal fate.]

His breathing slowed.

"So I really... have a chance to break fate? To avoid the

original ending?"

[Affirmative.]

[Path of the Immortal Villain unlocked.]

A pause.

Then-

[Main Quest Activated:]

Destiny Interference - Stage 1

Target: Lin Feng (Protagonist)

Objective: Interfere with his first fortuitous encounter.

Reward: 3000 VP, Foundation Strengthening Pill, Minor

Dao Insight Fragment.

Penalty for failure: Host's luck will be halved.]

Zhang Wei clicked his tongue.

"Lin Feng... so the protagonist hasn't awakened yet."

This meant he still had time.

A dangerous grin spread across his lips.

"Good. I'll rewrite your story. Starting now."

The limousine slowed, pulling into the private entrance of the Zhang family's main residence-Heavenly Dragon Manor. Towering walls of jade-steel guarded the perimeter, while spiritual formations hummed beneath the ground. Guards dressed in black suits

stood straight like statues-each one a Qi Cultivator.

This world was truly insane.

As the door opened, a tall woman in a black qipao bowed respectfully.

"Young Master, welcome home."

Zhang Wei recognized her through inherited memories.

Li Mei.

The personal steward of the Zhang family. A calm

beauty with a cultivation level stronger than most young clan heirs.

Zhang Wei stepped out, regaining composure.

"Prepare the cultivation chamber," he ordered. "I'll be in

seclusion for one hour."

Li Mei blinked.

"Young Master... you usually go to nightclubs at this

hour. Are you feeling sick?"

Zhang Wei raised one eyebrow.

"I said... prepare it."

Her spine straightened instantly.

"Yes, Young Master!"

He smirked inwardly.

The original Zhang Wei indulged in alcohol, drugs, and

pretty girls. His "cultivation" was nothing more than squandering money and bullying people.

But he wasn't that fool.

Not anymore.

The corridor leading to the cultivation chamber was

decorated with rare spiritual herbs in hydroponic glass cases. Natural qi pulsed like a heartbeat through invisible veins in the walls.

He entered the private chamber-circular, with a jade-

steel floor inscribed with glowing arrays.

Li Mei activated the formation.

Boom-!

A torrent of gentle spiritual energy filled the room.

Zhang Wei sat cross-legged.

"System. Show me my stats."

[Name: Zhang Wei]

[Position: Heir of the Zhang Conglomerate] [Cultivation: None] [Villain Value: 0]

[Luck: -10 (extremely low)]

His jaw tightened.

"Negative luck? The original owner was this cursed?"

[Host was destined to die as stepping stone. Current luck is unstable.]

Zhang Wei clenched his fists.

"Not anymore."

He took a deep breath, absorbing the chamber's qi.

It was weak-because he lacked cultivation-but he could still feel it. Like tasting spiritual sweetness for the first time.

"I need power."

[Side Quest Activated!]

Villain Stabilization - Step 1

Commit an act of villainy to anchor your identity as a

true villain.]

Suggested actions: Humiliate a minor antagonist, suppress a small protagonist-adjacent character, or

disrupt a fortuitous encounter happening tonight.]

Zhang Wei laughed.

"How convenient."

He stood, robes swaying.

"System, give me the protagonist's current location."

[Scanning...]

[Lin Feng is currently at: Jiangnan University – Old

Library.]

[Fortuitous event predicted: discovery of hidden

cultivation manual inside basement archives.]

Zhang Wei's smirk widened.

"That's the encounter that awakens him as a genius

cultivator."

He walked toward the chamber door.

"Then I'll take it first."

As he exited, Li Mei hurried forward.

"Young Master, should I prepare the car?"

"No need. Bring two guards."

Li Mei hesitated. "At this hour?"

Zhang Wei turned to her, eyes cold and commanding.

"Do I need to repeat myself twice today?"

Her cheeks flushed faintly-out of fear or admiration,

he couldn't tell.

"No, Young Master. I'll arrange it immediately."

Within minutes, two black-clad guards escorted him

into a sleek, rune-enhanced SUV that sped through the neon-lit city.

The streets were alive despite the late hour- cultivators meditating on rooftops, merchants selling

spirit herbs at night markets, gangs riding qi-powered bikes. Towering skyscrapers glowed with talismanic circuits, channels of spiritual energy running along their frames.

This world was intoxicating.

Dangerous.

Perfect for a villain.

The SUV stopped at the gates of Jiangnan University.

Zhang Wei walked in calmly, the two guards behind him attracting anxious stares from students still

lingering outdoors.

He ignored them.

He remembered the plot of the original novel-Lin

Feng would sneak into the abandoned library tonight, guided by some invisible destiny, and stumble upon

the inheritance of an ancient cultivator.

That opportunity would grant him talent, strength, and

cheat-like abilities-allowing him to defeat Zhang Wei later.

But now?

Not happening.

Zhang Wei pushed open the library's rusted doors.

The inside was dark, dusty, and filled with old books no

one cared about. The air felt stagnant.

Perfect for hiding secrets. His footsteps echoed as he descended into the

basement.

At the very bottom, a weak glow shimmered from

behind a wooden shelf. Zhang Wei moved it aside and

found a stone tablet covered in talismanic cracks.

Exactly as the novel described.

He reached out.

Ding!

[You have interfered with the protagonist's chance!]

[Villain Value +100]

[Reward unlocked: Beginner Qi Refining Technique]

Zhang Wei grinned.

But before he could pick up the tablet-

A voice echoed from behind him.

"What are you doing here?" Zhang Wei froze.

Then turned slowly.

A young man stood at the bottom of the stairs. Simple clothes. Thin frame. Sharp eyes.

Lin Feng.

The protagonist.

Zhang Wei felt a surge of excitement.

His first true confrontation with destiny.

"Me?" Zhang Wei asked casually. "I'm taking something that doesn't belong to you."

Lin Feng frowned. "That tablet... I sensed something

from it."

Zhang Wei raised one eyebrow. "Unfortunately, I found it first."

Lin Feng stepped forward. "Wait. We can share-"

Zhang Wei laughed.

"Share? With you?" His expression turned cold, villainous, dripping with

arrogance.

"You're not qualified."

Ding!

[Villain Act Detected: Suppressing the Rising

Protagonist!]

[Villain Value +200] [Reward: Body Tempering +1 stage (temporary), 10%

luck reduction on protagonist.]

Lin Feng staggered, clutching his chest as a strange

force hit him.

"What-?!"

Zhang Wei walked past him, placing a hand on his

shoulder.

"Remember this, Lin Feng. In this world... opportunities

are stolen by the strong."

He grabbed the stone tablet.

Light burst out.

A stream of ancient energy surged into his mind-

A cultivation technique.

A real one.

Not cheap, not basic...

But powerful.

"System," he whispered through clenched teeth, feeling

the influx of knowledge. "Integrate it."

[Integration complete.]

[Host has gained: 'Heavenly Void Scripture -

Fragment.']

[Effect: Host can begin cultivating immediately.]

A thrill shot through his body.

Finally.

Power.

Zhang Wei turned toward the stairs.

"I suggest you go home, Lin Feng. Fate won't help you

this time."

He

walked away as Lin Feng stared at the remnants of

his lost opportunity, fists trembling, eyes filled with

frustration and disbelief.

Zhang Wei stepped into the night, the cool air brushing

across his face.

The city shone brightly below the moonlight.

He inhaled deeply.

A new world.

A new fate.

And he, the villain-

the world's richest young master-

now held the power to dominate everything.

He smirked.

"Protagonist? Son of Destiny?" His voice dripped with arrogance.

"Let's see if destiny can save you from me."
