Chapter 1 - Chapter 0ne : I'm Li wei

Shanghai was the kind of city that never truly slept, even when the rain fell so heavily it blurred the neon lights and drowned the sound of footsteps. Cars hissed across the wet asphalt like restless serpents, umbrellas bobbed like black mushrooms along the sidewalks, and tall buildings pierced the dark sky with cold, silver light.

Inside one of those towering giants—Su Group Headquarters, a glass-and-steel monolith that glowed like a blade in the storm—Su Yuxin, the infamous Cold-Faced President, was finishing yet another late-night meeting.

The boardroom was quiet now, except for the rhythmic metallic tapping of her pen as she signed her final document. The executives had fled an hour ago, terrified by her sharp gaze and sharper decisions. Only she remained, alone at the head of the long walnut table.

Her assistant, a small woman with round glasses and a nervous energy, approached her timidly.

"President Su… the driver called. He said he got stuck in traffic due to flooding on the Yan'an Road."

Yuxin looked up with a face as calm as a frozen lake.

"Then I will drive myself."

The assistant blinked. "In this weather? President Su, maybe you should wait—"

"I said," Yuxin repeated, standing with quiet authority, "I'll drive myself."

The assistant instantly shut her mouth. In the company, President Su's words were like royal decrees—absolute and unquestionable.

Yuxin walked to the elevator in long, confident strides. She wore a fitted white blouse under a black trench coat, heels clicking with a steady rhythm. Her beauty was striking but cold, her expression so composed it made people straighten their backs instinctively.

No one would imagine that beneath her iceberg exterior lay a heart still bleeding from old wounds.

She reached the underground parking lot, stepped into her sleek black Maserati, and drove out into the storm.

The rain only worsened.

Visibility dropped. Thunder rolled over the sky like a dragon waking from slumber. The wipers struggled to push the sheets of water aside.

"Of all nights…" Yuxin murmured, tightening her grip on the wheel.

Then—

clunk.

clunk—pssssshhh…

The engine coughed, sputtered, and died.

The Maserati coasted to a stop on a dim side street, right beside a row of closed shops.

Su Yuxin stared at the dashboard, her expression cracking for the first time that day.

"…You must be joking."

She tried restarting it.

Nothing.

She checked her phone.

1% battery.

Before she could curse her luck, the screen blacked out.

Her flawless, ice-cold composure began to tremble with irritation.

"I run a multinational corporation," she breathed through clenched teeth, "but I cannot keep a car or a phone alive? Fantastic."

She stepped out of the car into the rain, her coat immediately soaked at the shoulders. Water dripped down her hair, clinging to her forehead.

Thunder rolled again.

Then—

vroooooom—screech!

A bright yellow motorcycle skidded to a stop beside her. A delivery rider jumped off, shaking water from his jacket.

Miss, what are you doing here?" he called over the rain. "You'll catch a cold standing out like this!"

Su Yuxin turned slowly to face him.

She expected a greasy, rude courier.

Instead—

she saw a tall young man, soaked but smiling, rain dripping from his bangs. His eyes were warm, gentle, and strangely sharp at the same time.

His posture was relaxed, but something about him felt controlled… powerful.

A dangerous man hiding as an ordinary one.

She couldn't explain it—but she felt it immediately.

"Are you stuck?" the rider asked, stepping closer. "Your engine died? This street gets slippery. Happens a lot."

Yuxin stared at him, stunned by his casual tone.

"No… I'm fine."

Her pride stabbed her.

"I don't need help."

The rider blinked.

"Oh. You look like you need help."

She froze.

Did… did he just talk back to her?

In her entire professional life, almost no one dared.

"I said I'm fine," she repeated, colder.

"Great," he said cheerfully. "Then I'll stay here and watch you not need help."

He leaned against his bike with a grin.

Yuxin nearly choked.

"Are you mocking me?"

"No, no. Absolutely not."

A beat.

"…Okay maybe a little."

Before she could respond, the situation changed.

Three men walked out of a nearby alley, laughing loudly. Their steps were uneven, drunk, and unsteady. When they saw Yuxin—beautiful, alone, soaked in the rain—one of them whistled.

"Well, well… what's a pretty lady like you doing here?"

Yuxin stiffened.

The delivery rider's smile disappeared instantly.

His posture shifted.

Calm, Balanced, Dangerous

A martial artist's stance—Yuxin didn't recognize it, but her instincts screamed it wasn't ordinary.

One man stepped close.

"You alone?" he asked with a sleazy grin.

Before Yuxin could answer, the rider stepped between them.

"She's not alone," he said calmly.

"And she doesn't want to talk to you."

The drunk man scoffed.

"You her boyfriend or something?"

"No," the rider said with a shrug.

"But I'm someone who doesn't like trouble."

The men exchanged looks—and lunged.

Everything after that happened too fast for the human eye.

The rider stepped forward—

CRACK !! He struck the first man's wrist with two fingers. The man screamed, dropping instantly.

THUD! A spinning kick knocked the second man backward into a puddle.

The third man swung wildly—

The rider sidestepped without effort, grabbed his arm, and flipped him onto the ground with a single fluid motion.

The entire fight lasted less than seven seconds.

Rain fell softly.

Silence followed.

Yuxin blinked, utterly stunned.

"You…"

Her voice shook.

"…who are you?"

The rider scratched the back of his head, smiling again like nothing happened.

"Just a food delivery guy."

Lies.

That was a lie.

No ordinary rider moved like that.

He approached her car.

"Pop the hood," he said. "Let me check the engine."

"You know how to fix cars too?" she asked suspiciously.

"I know a little bit of everything," he said.

It was the type of answer given by someone who actually knew a lot.

Within moments, he tightened a loose cable and tapped the battery.

"Try it now."

Yuxin pressed the ignition.

The engine roared back to life.

She looked at him again—really looked this time.

He smiled brightly, rain falling around him like a curtain.

Almost… heroically.

"Alright," he said, waving as he mounted his motorcycle. "Stay safe, Miss. Shanghai nights can be dangerous."

He was about to speed off when Yuxin called out suddenly:

"Wait—what's your name?"

He turned slightly.

"Li Wei."

And then he drove off into the storm.

Leaving Su Yuxin standing on the wet street, heart pounding in a way she hadn't felt in years.
