Midnight came quickly. There was no easy way to notice it, but days in this era lasted only twenty-three hours. The days were literally shorter, which in turn gave the world shorter windows of sunlight, and thus made it harder to move over great distances without getting stranded somewhere random as night time came.
Moving in the night would be problematic for most hunters, most humans, because this was when apex predators walked the ground, looking for their next meal.
However, Jimmy and the rest of them moved along with dinosaurs, who were apex predators themselves, mostly, so they were safe. They weren't scared of the dangers that loomed in the night, so they kept moving.
