CHAPTER II: FIRST DAY, FIRST ENEMY
Upon arriving at the Academy, Martis sensed that not everything would go smoothly. He, the antisocial one, expected to be the target of many friendly solicitations, but he did not expect to suffer a surprise attack.
A young boy, his fist clenched, rushed towards Martis, who did not understand the reason for this aggression. As he approached, another boy intervened, grabbed Martis, and pulled him away from the assailant. The punch narrowly missed Martis, but upon hitting the ground, it created a huge crater, and the shockwave made the ground tremble in front of the Academy, raising a cloud of dust.
The boy who had just saved Martis looked at him and asked:
« Are you okay, mate? »
He was identical to the other in every way; only the haircut differed.
« Yeah, thanks. »
The boy turned to the other and yelled:
« Hey, Leonard! What's your problem? Why are you attacking? »
Leonard stood up in the dust smoke, glaring at the other.
« It's not my fault, big brother, » he said, pointing at Martis. « It's because of this filth that we, the royal family, come in second everywhere we go. I can't accept that. »
Martis sighed then thought internally:
« Ah, first day, first enemy, and first assassination attempt. What a beautiful life I have. »
Leonard advanced towards the two, giving off an almost unhealthy yet divine aura.
« Well, brother, I would ask you to let me handle this gently without getting involved. »
« Oh, for that, you would first have to kill me. It concerns me too, since I am from the royal family, » he said, giving off an equally divine aura.
The entire Academy was frozen, their eyes wide with amazement at this unprecedented spectacle. Among the most powerful students in the Academy, two were about to clash. Right next to them, another student, from a family that held the most powerful warrior in the kingdom, promised an epic fight.
Martis looked at them with a disinterested air then continued his way towards the building.
« I wanted to go incognito, but I really failed. I'll pretend I'm not here and enter the building, » he thought.
Just as the two were about to start fighting, an icy voice was heard behind them. A lady in a long black dress, with purple hair, her silver eyes shining behind her glasses, came to stop them.
« Hey, stop that! If you don't want to be sanctioned. It's the first day of the Academy and you're already fighting? »
The two immediately stopped and bowed to the woman, saying in unison:
« Forgive us, Madam Director! »
« May I know the reason for all this disorder? »
Leonard wanted to explain what had happened, but his brother answered for him.
« Sorry, Madam Director, we just had an argument with my brother, it's nothing serious. »
The Director, with a severe look, observed them.
« Good, and don't let it happen again! »
« Yes, Madam Director. »
She turned around then entered the building, muttering.
« These noble brats, I swear, if it weren't for the billions of gold coins I make and the success that comes with it, I would have already resigned. »
Leonard looked at his brother then walked away in turn. The boy, relieved to see his brother leave, turned around to talk to Martis.
« Well, they're finally gone, but is that... »
Turning around, he realized that Martis had already left, but he hadn't noticed.
For his part, Martis was already leaving the Management Office where he had submitted his file and gathered all the information about the Academy.
« Well, according to what the elf told me: my locker is number seventeen, my classroom is in the third corridor on the left, and I'm the only new student here. »
« Well, they'll ring the first bell soon, I should go put my things in my locker. »
While walking towards his locker, he noticed that all the students still had their eyes fixed on him because of his family's crest on his shoulder. And that made him uncomfortable.
« If I look down and pretend they're not there anymore, maybe they'll leave me alone. »
But what followed made him realize it was a lost cause.
Three girls were coming in his direction and when one of them brushed his shoulder, she let out a little cry, whispering.
« Eek, I touched him! »
There, he understood that he was in a school where his presence was comparable to that of a holy being, but for him, it was the worst thing that could happen.
Arriving at his locker, he found a girl putting away her books in the next locker, number eighteen. Her face looked swollen and downcast as if she had been crying all day.
« What's her problem? » he thought.
Several boys arrived in their direction, one of them holding a glass bottle filled with water. When he saw the girl, he sketched a smile then threw the bottle at her head, the bottle exploded on her head, splashing her with water.
« We don't want you, demon, louse. »
Then they all walked away, bursting into laughter.
For the first time in his life, Martis felt sorrow; it was the first time he had seen such an act, he who is so disconnected from the rest of the world.
He wanted to talk to the girl, but when she saw his crest out of the corner of her eye, she panicked and quickly left.
Martis stood there, not understanding.
« Just when I want to be sociable, people avoid me! Well, thanks a lot. »
He closed his locker then headed towards the classroom.
Arriving in the classroom, he noticed that all the students had already taken their seats. Many, seeing him, left a space for him to sit next to them, but Martis looked at an empty bench at the back of the class.
« Heaven! »
He headed there, but in the front row, he saw the two twins again, sitting on the first bench. Leolio, the older and calmer one, had his hair tied in a ponytail, and next to him, Leonard, the more impulsive one, with loose hair. Leonard, seeing him, immediately stood up to confront him again, but his brother stopped him dead.
« If you cause a disturbance in the classroom, it will go straight to father's ears, and I'm sure you don't want that. »
He remained frozen, staring intently at Martis. Leolio looked at Martis then gave him a wide smile, greeting him.
« Crazy, yes! » thought Martis, seeing him. He walked to his seat then sat down.
A second later, the magic class professor entered and all the students instantly stood up. He looked severe, he wore a black jacket, his long green hair floated in the wind, but his dark gaze made the room shiver.
A silence.
« Hello, students, » he said in an icy voice.
« Hello, Sir, » the students replied in a chilling silence.
The professor scanned the class as if looking for someone.
« I was warned that there would be a new student this year, where is he? »
When he said these words, all eyes turned towards Martis. At that moment, the professor's piercing gaze went through his body, and just by seeing him, the aura he gave off, he could already understand that he was not a professor at this Academy for nothing. He pointed at Martis.
