Chapter 17 - Cheater 15: Blessing of Goddesses

But Julian and Isadora were not the only one that was levitating and enveloped in this blinding light.

Every vampire in the throne room, no, every awakened vampire on the continent was experiencing the same phenomenon.

Causing the onlookers to stare on in panic and horror, fearful of the sudden occurrence.

The phenomenon went on for a moment before the blinding light disappeared and dropped the levitating vampires.

The moment these vampires touch the ground, they immediately went down on both their knees, pressing their foreheads flat to the ground, praying, chanting.

"All Hail the Moon Goddess. All Hail the Goddess of the Stars. Long live Saintess Isadora Dracul. Long live Prince Julian Dracul."

They repeated this like a mantra. Over and over. Their actions caused plenty of onlookers to mimic them in fear of unknown consequences.

But vampires weren't the only ones that this happened to, some animals experienced the same.

In the stalls of the Domus Noctis, Snow and Midnight were also undergoing drastic changes.

Under Snow's neck, on the feathers located underneath her wings and on her tigh, black marks appeared. And in these black marks, dots shimmering like stars formed.

The hair on the back of her neck and tail faded in and out of reality and left behind a trail of floating lights everywhere it moved.

Midnight's pitch black mane had elegant white markings. The hair on the back of his head and tail turned pure white and grew in luster and volume.

His wings turned white also, with some black spots on the bottom of the feathers. Long white hair appeared above his hooves and his ears turned rigged and pointy.

The both of them looked majestic, out of this world.

Back in the throne room, Julian and Isadora stared at the kneeling masses at their feet.

"Did something happen?" Julian whispered to Isadora.

"The Moon Goddess and Goddess of the Stars made me their saintess and you their champion and in extention, blesssed the entire vampire race." Isadora whispered back, the tear on her face gone.

"Oh." Julian simply said, still completely lost. "How do you know?"

Him and Isadora had their awakening at the same time, so he was curious why she experience something that he didn't.

"Mother told me." Isadora said matter-of-factly.

"Mother?" Julian's attention was instantly captured. "What did she say? Is she okay? When can we meet her? Why did she only talk to you?"

The words spilled out of Julian's mouth, his face inching closer to Isadora's with every question.

"Relax, brother." Isadora pushed Julian's face away with her hand. "Have you suddenly forgotten about personal space?"

Julian didn't say anything and kept staring at Isadora with frightening intensity, urging her to answer him.

"We didn't have a lot of time, so there wasn't much she could say. And yes, she's okay. At least physically, don't know much about how she's doing mentally." Isadora said.

"At least we know she's alive." Julian commented.

"She mentioned that it will be long time before we can be a family again, and just like always, she didn't state the reason for the long wait." Isadora continued.

"She never changes, does she?" Julian commented again.

Isadora was getting irritated with Julian's constant intermission, but kept on talking nonetheless. "The reason she didn't speak to you is because she could only visit one of us, and she presumed that I was the one who needed talk the most between the two of us."

"Yeah, that's true." Julian agreed with his mother's reasoning.

"Oh, and mother is an angel." Isadora added.

"Makes sense." Julian blurted out before realizing what Isadora said. "Wait, what?"

"It is just like I said. She is an angel, and a strong one, at that." Isadora added.

"L-like an Archangel?" Julian asked.

"Higher."

"What's higher than an Archangel?" Julian asked.

"She said she is what they call a Watcher. The only of her kind." Isadora said with a smug grin, reveling in the feeling of finally knowing more than her brother.

"And guess what, she showed me her true form and it was this humongous being with eight wings, her skin was pitch black and it had trillions of stars all over it, making it look like the universe was on her skin.

And in her abdomen, the moon and sun was swirling in a circular motion." She explained with exaggerating hand motions. "And she wasn't even using her full might. She said that if she did, then my soul would've evaporated instantly, without going into the reincarnation cycle."

"Woah." Julian said with childlike intrigue. "Tell me more about this Watcher stuff."

"You know how there are thousands of different gods and goddesses in existence?" She asked.

"Yeah, of course." Julian nodded.

"Well, only the truly powerful gods and goddesses get angels." She continued.

"It sounds like you're telling me that each of these strong gods and goddesses have their own angels serving them and that angels are not all one unit." Julian concluded.

"That's exactly what I'm telling you. The angels are not as united as we thought, there are actually plenty of different angels for different gods.

And that's exactly where mom comes in." She said.

"Clarify." Julian instructed.

"I was about to." Isadora snapped.

"Sorry." Julian apologized. "Continue."

Isadora bit down another bark threatening to escape and instead continued explaining, as Julian so nicely asked.

"So the Celestial Pantheon–made out of Luna the Moon Goddess, Stella the Goddess of the Stars and Sola the Sun Goddess or more famously, the Goddess of Light–was some of the most powerful gods since the birth of the universe, so they basically got angels straight off the bat.

They had the Moon Angels, Angels of the Stars and the Sun/Light Angels.

But there was a problem, the angles were too many and the goddesses were too lazy, all they wanted to do was have tea parties and gossip all day, and taking care of hordes of angels was not in their itinerary.

Since they didn't want to do their jobs, they decided that they will get someone to do it for them.

But this someone had to be loyal, unbiased, trustworthy and obedient.

They didn't know someone like that.

So they decided to create the perfect angel, an angel with all these qualities, an angel made in their image.

Giving life to who we now call our mother. The Watcher."

"Damn, that's a lot." Julian said, biting the inside of his cheek. "I guess that's why mother has so many wings, stars on her skin, and a moon and sun dancing in her stomach.

She carries the essence of all three goddesses."

"That's what I thought too." Isadora agreed.

"Anyways," she said, looking at the still kneeling and praying masses, "how long do you think this is going to go on?"

"I don't know." Julian said, taking a deep breathe. "In the meantime we shou–"

The smell of blood hit him immediately, and a deep, soul crushing hunger overtook him, awakening in him the carnal urge to consume.

Swoosh.

In the blink of an eye Julian was standing next to one of the tables, a glass of blood in his hands. He downed it instantly.

Julian closed his eyes in ecstasy when the cool liquid filled his mouth, sliding down his throat and coming to a rest in his stomach.

It was the most delicious thing he had ever tasted in both his lifes, nothing comes close.

"Not enough." His voice was raspy, filled with hunger and need for more blood.

With inhumane speed he went down the long table, drinking from every glass he could find. At one point he started grabbing bottles and drank straight from it.

"What are you doing?" Isadora asked, noticing her brother's strange before.

She sniffed the air lightly and in the blink of an eye, she ,too, started drinking any blood she could find like a maniac.

Haa... haa... haa

Julian and Isadora's labored breathing sounded as they leaned against the wall of the throne room, exhausted from drinking so much blood in a short amount of time.

"They are still like that." Isadora said, pointing at the vampires that was still knelt in prayer. "How long are they going to be like that?"

"I don't know." Julian said, standing up and stretching his hand out to Isadora. "But who cares anyways. We should get out of these rags, into proper clothes and then check our gains from awakening."

"Yeah, we should do that." She said, taking Julian's outstretched hand.

"...You're touching me." Julian said in confusion. "Is the curse not active?"

"Yes, it is." Isadora said, staring at their joined hands. "I can feel it, but it seems this much I can handle."

"Hm." Julian nodded. "We should do more research, but only after we are in better clothes."
