Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: The Science Team and the Prince

Corin settled down at the 0-8-4 temporary base.

On one hand, he assisted Coulson at any time with research related to the hammer. On the other, he waited for Thor's arrival.

Although Corin did not know whether Thor had already fallen to Earth at this moment, he knew one thing for certain: the God of Thunder would definitely find a way to come looking for his hammer.

———

[Isabella's Diner]

Watching Thor shovel food into his mouth, Darcy kept firing off questions, "How did you fall from the sky?"

"You've already eaten a whole box of jam filled pastries. Why do you still look so hungry?"

Thor ignored Darcy and drained the drink in his cup.

"What is this stuff? It's so good. Another!"

BANG!

The way he casually smashed the cup down with a flick of his hand was as if he were bestowing supreme honor upon everyone present.

The diner instantly fell silent. The diners and the servers all looked Thor up and down in surprise, as if saying, "Where did this rude guy come from?"

Thor's behavior made Jane unhappy, and she spoke up to remind him to be more polite.

Thor, however, dismissed Jane's reminder with disdain.

At that moment, heated discussion from nearby customers drifted over, "I heard a satellite fell into the desert. We were just about to go see the excitement, and then the FBI showed up again."

This topic did not interest Thor at all. He did not even know what a satellite was.

But the news piqued the curiosity of astrophysicist Erik Selvig, "What did this satellite you're talking about look like?"

Seeing someone show interest, the passerby launched into an almost boastful explanation, "I don't know what a satellite looks like, but it's heavy. I mean, no one can move it. I heard it's radioactive too."

Before he could finish, Thor was already behind him, grabbing him by the shoulder and asking, "Where is it?"

Satellites themselves could not spark Thor's curiosity, but something that fell from the sky and was so heavy no one could lift it could not help but make him suspicious.

This was very likely his lost hammer.

Intimidated by Thor's rough behavior and towering stature, the passerby instinctively replied, "Eighty kilometers west from here."

Thor turned and left immediately, paying no attention to the passerby's well intentioned warning, "Don't waste your time. By the time we got back, the military had already gone there."

Thor, who had absolutely no concept of traffic rules, strode majestically down the road, forcing several cars that were about to pass through the intersection to come to a stop.

At this moment, Jane ran out of the diner after him, "Where are you going?"

"Eighty kilometers west from here."

Thor answered without even turning his head, his steps brisk and steady.

"Why?"

Jane could not understand why the blond, handsome man in front of her suddenly decided to leave like this.

"To take back what belongs to me."

The more Thor thought about it, the more convinced he was that what the passerby described was his weapon.

Facing the three scientists who caught up behind him, he stopped and put forward his proposal, "If you can take me there to find Mjolnir, I will tell you everything."

"Meow meow? What meow meow?"

Darcy Lewis clearly did not understand what Thor was saying.

At this point, the well seasoned mentor Erik realized something was wrong.

Thor's hammer, Thor himself, and the Rainbow Bridge were all stories he had only heard as a child.

The guy in front of them clearly had delusions. He was definitely an unstable factor, and it would be better to stay away as soon as possible.

He pulled Jane and Darcy aside and tried to persuade them, "We can't take him there."

Jane's obsessive drive for research pushed her to want to find out the truth. She desperately wanted to know what was really going on.

"He's too dangerous."

But her mentor's sincere advice made her realize she could not act impulsively.

Jane then regretfully said that she could not give Thor a ride.

The God of Thunder, of course, did not care about such a trivial matter.

"It's time to say goodbye."

Thor took Jane's hand and gently kissed the back of it.

This sudden gesture left Jane grinning foolishly, not knowing what to say.

After holding it in for a long while, she awkwardly forced out a laugh and said, "Thank you."

Thor did not notice her embarrassment at all. With a sincere expression, he addressed each of the scientists by name, "Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, Darcy… farewell!"

After speaking, he bowed elegantly to the three scientists.

Only at this moment did Erik start to believe that Thor might really be a prince, because the noble aura he displayed now was impossible to ignore.

Under Thor's earnest gaze, Erik and Darcy awkwardly returned the salute.

The science trio said goodbye to Thor. Jane hesitated for a long time while staring at his retreating figure before finally catching up with the other two.

After turning the corner, Jane was shocked to discover that her little pickup truck had been driven away.

It carried years of her research and results, as well as important observational records from last night.

She ran over to question the suited men who had taken her things without permission.

Agent Coulson received her politely yet forcefully, "This concerns a security threat. We must take these items. Thank you."

A passing agent also conveniently took the iPad from Darcy's hands.

Under the trio's stunned gaze, the mysterious convoy drove away like that, taking all of their research materials, including the equipment.

Jane: "Years of my research were just taken away like this…"

Darcy: "And my iPad… Ծ‸Ծ"

Jane: "The backups of the data, and the backups of the backups… all taken!"

Darcy: "And the thirty songs I just downloaded… Ծ‸Ծ"

Erik: "Can you stop talking about your iPad already?"

Jane: "Who exactly are these people?"

Erik: "I have a friend who studies gamma rays. Ever since S.H.I.E.L.D. came looking for him, he disappeared. Oh right, I have another friend! I'll email him right now."

Darcy: "But your computer was taken too."

The sunset was blood red.

The three scientists sat on the roof, looking at each other, utterly helpless.

———

Thor realized that if he was going to travel, he still needed a suitable mount.

He looked around, and when he saw the sign for "Pet Palace," his eyes lit up.

With wind in his steps, he marched into the pet store, "I want a horse!"

The pet store owner heard the customer's words, yet also felt like he hadn't. He slowly raised his head and stared blankly at the towering Thor.

But Thor's sincere gaze convinced the owner that he had heard correctly, and he replied mechanically:

"There are no horses here… only dogs, cats, and birds."

"Then give me a bigger one. Something I can ride."

Thor very seriously communicated his needs to the owner.

The pet store owner looked at the burly man in front of him with a face full of difficulty. He truly could not imagine what in his little shop could withstand a ride from this guy.

Just then, a car pulled up at the door, and Jane's voice rang out, "Hey, want a ride?"

After thinking it over, Jane still could not accept that her life's work had been taken away for nothing.

So she got another car and planned to chase after her things, and by coincidence ran into Thor, who was trying to buy a horse at the pet store.

The two of them drove off together toward the direction of the setting sun.

———

The question that had troubled Loki for many years was finally answered.

No wonder his father had always favored Thor all these years. No matter what, he would never allow a Frost Giant's descendant to sit on Asgard's throne.

Loki did not believe a single word of Odin's talk about using him to achieve lasting peace between Asgard and the Frost Giants in the future.

His emotions collapsed, tears unconsciously streaming from his eyes, "So I'm just a monster you adults use to scare children?"

Loki vented all the dissatisfaction in his heart, completely unaware that Odin was slowly collapsing to the ground in weakness.

Only when he saw his father lying motionless on the floor did Loki's reason return.

In truth, Loki still loved his family. He only wanted the same amount of love as his brother. Even though he questioned Odin loudly, there was no malice in his words.

At this moment, when he looked at Odin, Loki's eyes were filled with grievance, guilt, and helplessness.

He hurriedly summoned the guards to properly take care of his father.
