Percy's POV
Bewildered, I stand frozen as my mate storms out of the dining hall, her untouched meal still clutched in my hands. The silence she maintained throughout dinner weighs heavily on my chest. My attempted apology had fallen flat, doing nothing to bridge the growing chasm between us. I had hoped bringing her into pack activities might coax her back to me, but instead it seemed to push her further away.
The realization hits me like a physical blow. Less than a week together, and my darkness is already consuming her radiance.
My gaze drops to her abandoned plate, and dread pools in my stomach. She hasn't eaten. Not once today. And now she's racing off to burn energy fueled by anger and hurt, emotions I can taste through our fractured bond.
