Henderson's POV
The reality doesn't sink in until I reach the sanctuary of my bedroom. Everything I've ever known is about to shift completely.
Mother appears in my doorway, her medical training evident in how she reads my expression. "Are you truly comfortable with this decision? You have the right to refuse. You don't have to accept Percy as your mate, though I suspect you're thrilled about this bond."
"I've loved him forever," I admit without hesitation.
"I'm aware. I've observed you watching him your entire life."
My eyes widen. "You noticed?"
"What sort of physician would I be if I could diagnose others but remain blind to my own child? You've always possessed incredible focus and determination, Henderson. From childhood, you knew you wanted to practice medicine, and that goal never wavered. Similarly, you knew you wanted Percy, and that desire never faltered either. He's challenging to reach, but if anyone in this family can break through his walls, it's you."
