After wrapping up Beta Deryl's treatment, the silence in the hospital becomes deafening. Hours pass, and not a single pack member walks through those doors. The antiseptic smell mingles with my growing disappointment as I realize the truth - they either don't believe I can help them, or worse, they simply don't trust me enough to try.
The absence that cuts deepest is Percy's. My own mate couldn't be bothered to show up. He had the perfect opportunity to demonstrate faith in my abilities, to show the pack that their future Luna deserved their trust. Instead, his empty chair in the waiting room speaks volumes about what he really thinks of me - still just that helpless little pup he first met.
