Percy's strong arms cradle me against his chest as he carries me toward the packhouse. I reach out through our mental connection, opening my consciousness to him, to Usher, and desperately to Kain.
Kain, if you can hear me, please know how much we love you. I understand you're exhausted from protecting our babies and being the incredible mother you are. But Usher is here now. Percy is here. They'll help guard our children. You need to recover your strength, my wolf. I miss you so much.
The moment I finish speaking, Usher's deep purr resonates through both our minds and vibrates from Percy's chest. I sense Kain stirring weakly in the depths of my consciousness, responding to her mate's gentle call. This is exactly what Mom suggested I try. Kain's instinct will be to please her mate, to reconnect with him, so having Usher present in my mind might help draw her strength back.
