Austin's POV
I study Lara's face as she settles into my lap, watching the way pure love radiates from her expression while I dial Ezekiel's number. The phone rings twice before my brother's familiar voice fills the space between us.
"Well, well. My little brother calling me during the day. What catastrophe am I about to hear about?"
Ezekiel's tone carries that easy confidence that comes with being the Alpha of our pack. I can practically see him leaning back in his office chair, probably shuffling through paperwork while he talks.
"I need to ask you something important," I tell him, my voice more serious than usual.
Since Lara is pressed against me, I know she can hear every word of Ezekiel's responses. Good. She needs to understand what real family support looks like.
Ezekiel chuckles, clearly expecting some mundane request. What I'm about to say will wipe that amusement right off his face.
"Sure, shoot."
