When Gareth returned from the assault on Demetrius's territory, he delivered the news I expected. Demetrius had survived the attack, but his pack was barely holding together. I deployed scouts to monitor what remained of his forces, ensuring he stayed put. With our pack growing stronger each day, I could spare the warriors for surveillance duty.
The aftermath hit Natasha harder than anyone anticipated. Learning about Dorothy's kidnapping and the chaos at Joseph's pack left her desperate to return and help her former packmates. When I shared Beta Karl's report about Dorian being shot, her distress intensified.
"Dorian took a bullet? Even I wouldn't know how to treat something like that. Poor Adaline must be devastated," she whispered, tears streaming down her face. Gareth had guided her to their room, trying to offer comfort while she processed everything.
After giving them space for hours, I finally contacted Beta Karl.
