Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16

Hiruzen, You'll Regret This!

An old, cold, and commanding voice echoed from outside the Hokage's office, cutting through the quiet with an almost icy precision.

Danzo Shimura appeared in the doorway, flanked by his most trusted subordinates—Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado—each following silently, their expressions unreadable, their presence commanding attention.

"I have reason to believe that the current Jinchūriki are in grave danger and are completely unsuited for supervision under Kakashi Hatake!" Danzo's voice carried both authority and a chilling edge.

"Such a matter should fall directly under the control of Root, under my guidance," he continued, his gaze sweeping across the room, sharp and unwavering. "Only in this way can we prevent any incident that might jeopardize the safety of the Hidden Leaf Village!"

His eyes, cold and calculating, fell on Koharu and Homura.

"Advisor Koharu, Advisor Mitokado… you are perhaps unaware of the changes the Jinchūriki has undergone, correct?"

"If it weren't for the fact that I have operatives throughout the village network, I might have remained completely in the dark regarding these developments," Danzo added, a hint of sardonic amusement in his voice.

Koharu and Mitokado exchanged uneasy glances, their curiosity barely contained. They had been summoned under Danzo's pretext of a "village emergency," yet they knew little of Naruto's true transformation.

However, whispers of the Jinchūriki's theft of the Scroll of Seals two nights ago had already reached them. That single act, combined with Danzo's words, had set their nerves on edge.

Koharu, taking a cautious step forward, asked first.

"Hiruzen… could this situation be related to the theft of the Scroll of Seals by the Jinchūriki?"

Mitokado immediately added, his tone sharp, probing.

"Or perhaps the seal has malfunctioned due to forbidden techniques being learned by the Jinchūriki?"

Kakashi and the others standing nearby tensed, exchanging uneasy looks.

The Nine-Tails' seal was not a trivial matter. Twelve years prior, when it failed, the village had nearly been destroyed. If such a breach were to occur again, Konoha might not survive the fallout.

The three senior advisors fixed their gaze on Hiruzen Sarutobi, silently demanding an explanation.

Hiruzen's expression remained calm, composed—but his mind was a tempest. Danzo's intrusion was audacious, overstepping every limit of decency. All the ANBU monitoring Naruto were loyal to him, yet Danzo now wielded knowledge of things he shouldn't know. The time to purge Root's clandestine oversight of his direct subordinates had come.

Danzo, perceiving Hiruzen's silence, sneered, taking over the room's atmosphere entirely.

"Hmph, if he refuses to speak, then I will!"

"The seal on the Jinchūriki was compromised the night before last. The Nine-Tails' consciousness took control of the Jinchūriki's body and brutally murdered a Chunin in the process!"

The room seemed to freeze. Danzo's words, though not raised in volume, resonated like thunder, reverberating through the hearts of all present.

Koharu and Mitokado went pale.

"What!?" Koharu's voice was barely a whisper, trembling with fear.

"The seal… really failed?" Mitokado's hand tightened around his desk, knuckles whitening.

"Hiruzen… is this true? Speak!"

Hiruzen Sarutobi's gaze swept over them, calm and unwavering.

"Xiaochun has some residual inflammation from the night's events. Please exercise patience. What Danzo claims is speculation, nothing more. The seal is intact, and Naruto remains fully under control."

Hiruzen's eyes, sharp as a hawk's, met Danzo's.

"And you, Danzo, would do well to keep your motives hidden. Naruto is not someone to be touched lightly."

Danzo's sneer deepened, his composure intact.

"Don't deflect, Hiruzen! We are speaking of the Nine-Tails breaking free from the seal. Do I need to remind you of what the Jinchūriki himself said before he killed Mizuki?"

The room tightened. Every individual's heart skipped a beat. Danzo's words, if true, meant the village was balancing on the edge of disaster.

Hiruzen exhaled slowly, weighing his response. It was time to reveal the truth regarding the Wind Void. Naruto was under his direct supervision now, and no one—not even Danzo—could challenge that.

Though internally displeased at Danzo's brazen interference, Hiruzen maintained a mask of calm authority.

"Since you have come here today seeking answers, I will not wait until next week's council to explain," Hiruzen began, his voice steady. "The consciousness occupying Naruto's body is not Kurama, the Nine-Tails. It is an alternate personality, one we call Uzumaki Kazekage."

A collective gasp rippled through the room. Eyes widened in disbelief.

Hiruzen continued, dropping yet another bombshell.

"This alternate personality—Uzumaki Fuuka—has already successfully mastered part of the Nine-Tails' chakra. I have personally witnessed him control and manipulate it with full awareness and precision."

"And," he added, locking eyes with each of the high-ranking advisors in turn, "this personality is completely under Naruto's control."

The room fell silent, as if the air itself had thickened. Even Danzo was momentarily taken aback; the reality was far beyond his expectations.

"A secondary personality controlling the Nine-Tails… and it is under the Jinchūriki's control?" Koharu whispered, awe-struck. "Konoha has just gained a trump card unlike anything we have seen before."

Mitokado's jaw tightened, his mind racing with implications. The village had gained a weapon of unimaginable power, yet one that remained firmly in Hiruzen's hands.

Danzo, refusing to concede, stepped forward, eyes blazing with determination.

"This alternate personality is inherently dangerous! One cannot trust such a being! Root must immediately take control for artificial restriction and correction. Only then will Konoha gain a weapon that is truly safe to use!"

Hiruzen's glare was icy, unwavering.

"I will personally oversee and evaluate this personality. Your Root organization has no need to intervene."

Danzo did not step back, closing the distance between them.

"This is not a matter of preference—it is a matter of the village's safety! Root cannot stand idly by. I demand all instructors supervising the Jinchūriki be replaced by Root ninjas immediately!"

Hiruzen's voice rang out, sharp and resolute.

"Danzo, I will not permit Root interference. I will not repeat myself. And do not forget— I am the Hokage of Konoha!"

Danzo's face darkened, veins throbbing in anger. Every attempt to assert dominance over the Hokage had been met with the same reminder of authority.

"Hiruzen… you will regret this!" Danzo growled, his voice heavy with the promise of future schemes.

With that, Danzo turned sharply and stormed out, his subordinates following silently behind. Covert measures would follow, he promised himself. No matter what, the power of the Nine-Tails would not slip through his fingers.
