After greeting Mariana and her boyfriend Seth I met the two others.
Emily was about the most basic girl I have ever seen. She was white with dyed blonde hair and brown eyes. Emily was wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, and a caramel cardigan.
Nathan was Emily's boyfriend. He was a tall black guy with a textured crop hair cut. It is sharp around the ears and neck, with defined curls on top. He was wearing khaki pants, a white button up, and a pair of shiny brown loafers.
They were introduced down the line, as such.
Layla introduced, "This is Mariana, she works in sales, and loves to play video games."
"Hello, nice to meet you." I reach out for a handshake. As I am introduced I will shake everyone's hand. That is just how I was taught.
After that was Seth, "This is Seth, Mariana's boyfriend. He really loves playing video games too."
"Hello, nice to meet you."
Then it was Emily, "This is Emily, she is an elementary school teacher. Who loves reading romance books, and watching reality TV."
"Hello, nice to meet you. You know, you actually remind me of my friend who is very similar to you. But her name is Emery."
Emily replied, "Really? That's so weird."
After Emily it was Nathan, "This is Nathan, Emily's boyfriend. He works in finance, at the bank."
"Oh, is that so? Nice to meet you."
Nathan then asked, "What do you do for work?"
"Right now, stock trading."
"Oh, really? Where have you been focused on?"
"I typically fish around in the troubled waters."
"Oh… You know I think I heard that there were some weird movements happening there recently."
It only took me a moment to realize that those weird movements were me. So without hesitating I started spinning a story.
"Oh, yeah. I noticed. A few new accounts started sweeping through with a crazy return rate."
"Yeah, I heard that some analysts were kicking up a fuss, something about it being revolutionary."
"If the conjecture is true it will be."
"Conjecture? What do they think?"
"People online have been saying that it is some huge private fund testing their AI with a super computer."
"No."
"Yeah, they think that the volatile market is probably going to crash in the next few weeks."
"Really?"
"I don't know, that's what some people think. I have been thinking about picking up some future options but I am still on the fence. I want to see what's going to happen this coming week before making a decision."
"Theres no way a full crash will happen. The government will have to step in before that, to stabilize it."
"I don't know man. The people that usually hang out in the volatile market are fishing with loans. If enough people lose those, how many will stay?"
"Fuck…"
While we were talking there was a silence among the group until we finished talking. When Layla asked, "So what's happening?"
I explained while Nathan was lost in thought, "Well basically someone or something is making way too much money in the volatile stocks on the stock market. Which is a bad thing because the way it works is that you are basically stealing someone else's money when you make money."
"Isn't that a bad thing to do?" Emily asked.
"Well, generally speaking it is bad to steal from someone. But stocks are more like a gamble. I put money in thinking that so will someone else, then you take your money out now that it is worth more, hence making you money."
"Oh ok, I think I get it," Emily said.
"The thing that is really bad is that the people putting their money in are doing it with loans from the banks, so if they lose that money then they are in big trouble. The thing that we are alarmed about is that someone is making way too much. Disrupting the natural flow of money, so that could scare people away from these stocks, which is bad for a large part of the market."
"So what would actually happen?" Layla asked.
"I don't know. I'm not really part of a financial group so I couldn't tell you."
Nathan then snapped out of his thoughts and said, "A lot of really bad stuff, but nothing that would affect you, probably.
…
There was a moment of silence that weighed heavy on the group until Samantha spoke up.
"By the way, I'm a tattoo artist, so come to me if you want one."
"Oh cool. I actually have thought about that before. I want one but I just can't decide on what I really want." I stepped in to alleviate the tension.
"Oh? Well what were you thinking?"
"Either full Yakuza, or something like WarMallet. I really want it to be absolutely metal, whatever it ends up being."
"Ooo, yeah I can fuck with that." Samantha said, smirking.
Layla then cut in, "Well we can keep talking while looking at the cars."
Everyone agreed to that, so we started walking around.
…
We walked around the car meet looking at other cars and talking to their owners. Most were similar to our group, one or two people in the group had a nice car while the others were just here hanging out with their friends.
Most of them were just cool normal people, but every once in a while, there would be a car douche. The guys with over inflated egos that thought having a cool and fast car just made them the most desirable guy around.
However it was funny watching Samantha absolutely destroy their self confidence with the most diabolical roasting I have ever seen. I have seen my fair share of insults and even dished them out, but she was ruthless.
It was like she had a psychology degree or could read their minds. She actually made one guy tear up, she roasted him so hard. It was so bad she even apologized to him, which only made it worse.
