The three people left the school area.
The fear on Kanai Kimishima's face flashed away. "Where are you taking me?"
"Don't be so nervous. We are members of the Parasyte Special Investigation Team," Roy said with a smile.
Kanai Kimishima looked confused. "Parasytes?"
Roy said meaningfully, "Can't you sense the special wavelength they emit?"
Kanai Kimishima was shocked. When she concentrated, she occasionally sensed a specific signal, but she had never told anyone about it.
"Your mission is to help us find those Parasytes," Roy stated. In truth, the lie he fabricated was full of holes. If they were truly an official agency, they wouldn't need to corner people at the school gate.
But at this moment, Kanai Kimishima's mind was in turmoil, and she didn't have the presence of mind to scrutinize their identities.
"Kanai!"
Just as the three turned a corner, Shinichi Izumi caught up, panting, and shouted out to them.
"Izumi-kun!" Kanai Kimishima's face was filled with excitement.
Seeing Shinichi Izumi's slightly immature face, Roy roughly knew the current timeline.
"Who are you people?"
Shinichi Izumi was about to rush over. Migi's voice rang in his ear, laced with intense caution, "Wait, Shinichi, don't get any closer!"
Shinichi Izumi stopped. It was the first time he had seen Migi react this way. He whispered, "What is it, Migi? Kanai is still over there!"
"Shinichi, if your strength is 10, and mine is 180, that girl's is 500 or more," Migi prompted him to look at Ryuu next to Roy.
This figure stunned Shinichi Izumi. He looked even more anxious. "Is she a Parasyte?"
"No, she doesn't have our wavelength, but she is not a normal human either. It's truly surprising. Who exactly are they?" Migi replied.
"Don't be so nervous. Since you're here, why don't you join us?" Roy said.
Not sensing any hostility from Roy and Ryuu, Shinichi Izumi and Migi cautiously followed behind them.
The four of them found a family restaurant.
Kanai Kimishima told Shinichi Izumi about the fake identity Roy had given them. However, he was clearly not as easily fooled as Kanai Kimishima, especially with an intelligent Parasyte—one who could use a computer by itself—residing in his right hand.
Roy first looked at Shinichi Izumi. "Are your parents out on a trip?"
"They just left yesterday." Shinichi Izumi found the question inexplicable. The conversation had turned to his parents, and the person speaking looked younger than him.
Roy looked mournful. "That's truly terrible. You should urge them to leave that area immediately."
"Why?"
Roy's expression gave Shinichi Izumi a bad feeling. His voice trembled slightly.
Roy recalled the plot and smiled. "There have been murdered people in that area. The news didn't explicitly say, but who do you think did it?"
Thud!
Shinichi Izumi suddenly stood up, his face looking somewhat distorted. Parasytes!
The loud noise of the chair falling to the ground caused the gazes of others in the family restaurant to turn their way.
"Excuse me, I need to make a phone call," Shinichi Izumi apologized to everyone and rushed out.
"Young people are always in such a hurry."
Roy complained, even though it seemed inappropriate for someone his age to say such a thing. However, both Ryuu and Kanai Kimishima implicitly assumed there was an old monster hidden within that body.
"Can you believe us now?" Roy looked at Kanai Kimishima.
Kanai Kimishima nodded, letting down her guard. She realized that only a state agency could know her secret and the inside story of the murder cases reported in the news.
"Then let's go find the Parasytes!"
After eating and drinking their fill, the three left the family restaurant and began wandering the streets, using Kanai Kimishima's special perception to search for signs of the Parasytes.
Perhaps due to the novice protection period, in less than half an hour, they actually encountered a Parasyte.
"That man wearing the hat," Kanai Kimishima pointed with a trembling hand toward the couple in front of them.
Kanai Kimishima could emit a signal that Parasytes use to sense each other's location, but her own signal transmission range was very short. This resulted in the Parasyte not detecting her—a natural protective shield.
The couple entered an underground parking garage.
Roy's trio followed closely. The Parasyte seemed too focused on its prey to notice it was being tracked. They kept a distance of thirty or forty meters, observing secretly.
"It's so dark here, what are we doing?" The girl still didn't realize the danger was imminent.
"Making you my food." Now that they were here, the young man stopped pretending and was expressionless.
"Oh, stop it. That sounds so awful," the girl said, her face flushing. But the moment she turned around, her face instantly went pale with fright.
Her boyfriend's cheeks split open, forming several long arms that writhed in the air, casting haunting silhouettes on the walls under the dim lighting of the underground parking garage. The sight was utterly terrifying.
"Ahhhhhh—"
The girl let out a shrill scream.
The tip of one of the long arms transformed into a sharp blade and sliced toward her. Its speed was too fast for the naked eye to track.
A golden figure flashed into existence, swinging a wooden sword to block the Parasyte's blade for the girl. The sharp clang of metal on metal echoed.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Both sides rapidly swung their weapons, and fierce sparks continuously flew in the air from the collisions.
"A fellow Parasyte? No, what exactly are you…"
The young man expressed the same disbelief as Migi. It was impossible for a human to possess this kind of strength.
It even far exceeded that of the Parasytes!
Boom!!
Ryuu used the Elven Flowing Light technique to sweep aside all of the Parasyte's blades, rushing toward it like a gust of wind. Her small hand grabbed the young man's head and slammed it heavily against the wall.
The immense force cracked the wall in all directions, and the young man's head was utterly smashed.
The terrified girl remained inside, while Roy's trio quickly left, not wanting to attract police attention.
After this incident, Kanai Kimishima completely believed in the existence of Parasytes and Roy's fabricated identity. The sheer strength and decisive style of the elven girl also left her deeply shocked.
There were more Parasytes hiding in human society than they imagined. After five or six hours of sweeping the area, Roy's group managed to find four more.
Most of them showed their true colors and fought immediately.
There was also one Parasyte that was quite cunning, knowing how to conceal its identity.
"No, I'm human! What do you want? I'll give you all the money I have."
The middle-aged man backed away continuously, trying to defend himself as Ryuu closed in.
But once attacked, he instantly reverted to his original form: expressionless, with a head that transformed into sharp blades.
The outcome was beyond doubt. He was effortlessly dealt with by the elven girl. Ordinary Parasytes were equivalent to LV.2 monsters. Since they possessed some ability to think, they were slightly harder to deal with than simple monsters, but without skills or magic, a seasoned LV.2 adventurer could handle them.
Based on Roy's guess, the Dungeon limit being LV.4 was indeed because of the big boss, Goto!
