Chapter 71 - Chapter 72

As the saying goes—brothers fight side by side, fathers and sons fight shoulder to shoulder.

Although Thor and Loki had clashed countless times and Loki had even nearly killed Thor on multiple occasions, the bond between them was special. They loved and hated each other in equal measure.

Scenes like this, where they band together against an outsider, were nothing new. Lu Yi wasn't surprised, nor did he care.

He had long been mentally prepared for a sneak attack, and their complicated relationship gave Loki exactly the mindset to attempt it.

Thor? I can beat him! But others can't! —that was how Loki thought.

But what Lu Yi couldn't accept was being slapped in the face—especially more than once.

That was truly infuriating. Did my face offend you somehow? Once or twice is bad enough—why does it always have to be my face?

Especially earlier—if Lu Yi's magic hadn't recovered enough for him to teleport, his face would have been smashed in. That alone ignited his anger.

This wave of reckless attacks made Lu Yi decide to give Thor a proper lesson—to let him know that no one touches his face.

Right after whispering those words by Thor's ear, Lu Yi didn't give him a chance to react. He grabbed Thor's arm and leaped into the sky.

When Lu Yi felt they had risen high enough, he yanked Thor by the arm, slamming Thor's head toward the ground.

They were at least a thousand meters in the air.

It was a high fall, but it wouldn't necessarily kill Thor. Thor seemed to understand this and gradually relaxed.

"You're relaxing too early."

Lu Yi's voice echoed.

Without giving Thor time to speak, Lu Yi tightened his grip on Thor's arm.

Thor didn't have time to figure out what Lu Yi was planning. He only felt their speed suddenly increase as they began spinning rapidly, plummeting like a giant top from the sky.

Perhaps because they were moving so fast, a terrifying tornado formed behind them, shredding clouds into pieces.

Seeing this, Thor's face flushed with horror. Under such a terrifying impact, if they really hit the ground, Thor didn't know what would happen to Lu Yi—but he would definitely die. He quickly summoned Mjolnir and swung it at Lu Yi to protect himself.

But Lu Yi didn't even glance at it. He simply let Mjolnir hit him.

BOOOM!

Mjolnir smashed against Lu Yi's arm, numbing it instantly.

But it did nothing. Lu Yi's grip was like an iron clamp—Thor couldn't break free at all.

Realizing they were seconds away from hitting the ground, Thor grabbed Mjolnir tightly as the sky darkened.

KA-BOOM!

A massive bolt of lightning struck them both.

Thor, being the God of Thunder, wasn't afraid of lightning. Lu Yi, however, was a different story—his body went rigid, his arms numb, and he momentarily lost control.

Seeing this, Thor's eyes lit with hope. He continued channeling lightning through Mjolnir.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

Bolt after bolt struck. Lu Yi's grip weakened, though the numbness in his body lingered.

Lu Yi couldn't dodge any of it—all he could do was endure.

Suddenly, the lightning stopped.

Before Lu Yi could react, an enormous bolt—stronger than all the previous ones combined—came crashing down, electrocuting both him and Thor.

ZZZZZZZTT!

Lu Yi's body went stiff midair.

But the opportunity Thor needed had come. He pushed with all his strength, wrenched his arm free, and escaped.

Freed at last, Thor swung Mjolnir hard, using the momentum to propel himself backwards, reducing the accumulated force from falling at 25 times the speed of sound combined with gravity and centrifugal spin.

But it was far too late.

He was only a few dozen meters above the ground. The speed wasn't enough to fully cancel the impact. With a thunderous crash, he slammed into a dark shadow before hitting the sand below, carving out a deep crater as waves of sand billowed outward.

Lu Yi fared far better. Flying at Mach 25, though he couldn't completely offset the impact, his greater speed allowed him to land with minimal damage. He stumbled slightly in the sand—and that was it. Though it sounded dramatic, the entire sequence had taken only a few seconds.

One would think Lu Yi deserved applause—but he didn't seem pleased.

"What a pity. If he'd held on a little longer, and if this weren't a desert, Thor would've been dead by now."Lu Yi floated out of the crater, muttering to himself.

Yes—Thor wasn't dead.

Not only was he alive, but he was only lightly injured.

Thor was smart—and lucky. He had offset part of the impact with Mjolnir. Then he happened to fall onto soft sand. Even better, he landed on his feet, still in flight posture, rather than face-first.

And then there was Loki.

In the end, Loki saved Thor. He maneuvered the Destroyer into Thor's falling path, letting it act as a scapegoat and absorb part of the impact.

That dark shadow Thor struck was the Destroyer.

All of this meant he survived—alive and well.

"Who are you? Why are you trying to kill me?" Thor shouted, pulling his foot out of the crater and glaring at Lu Yi.

"My name is Lu Yi. And as for why I want to kill you—it's because you won't stop hitting me in the face. I'm so angry I want to kill you."

"Just… for that?"Thor stared in disbelief.

He couldn't imagine anyone—anyone—trying to kill someone over a reason like that.

"Isn't that reason enough?"

"…"

Yes, let Thor be silent for a moment.
