Chapter 31 - Chapter 33

The major led a squad of soldiers to the nose of the fighter jet, surrounding Natasha and Coulson.

"Ready your rocket launchers!"

At his command, the soldiers behind him each pulled out a rocket launcher, hoisted it onto their shoulders, and locked onto the jet.

Natasha and Coulson saw this and panicked. They wanted to stop them, but with so many soldiers watching them closely, they didn't dare speak. They could only look on helplessly.

"Fire!"

With the major's order, all the rockets launched at once.

The rockets dragged long trails of flames across the air as they shot toward the fighter jet parked not far away.

Natasha and Coulson watched, and their hearts sank. At that moment, only two words echoed in their minds: It's over.

Of course, they didn't mean Lu Yi—they meant everyone in this base. They were all doomed.

Natasha and Coulson exchanged bitter, helpless smiles, their faces flushed like liver-red.

They could already imagine what would happen next—an unimaginable bloodbath.

The rockets streaked through the air toward the jet, but just before impact, a figure suddenly flashed into the sky—hovering, facing the incoming rockets.

Two beams of light shot across the sky like lightning, sweeping through the air. Every rocket was struck in an instant.

Boom! Boom! Boom…

The rockets exploded midair in a series of violent blasts, fire and thick black smoke erupting in the sky.

"Ah!"

Just as the flames and smoke were about to engulf him, the figure took a deep breath and blew toward them.

A frigid gust burst from his mouth, rapidly spreading outward. It dispersed the black smoke, extinguished the flames, and formed thick layers of ice spikes on the ground.

Fortunately, he hadn't directed the icy blast toward the soldiers—otherwise they would've been frozen into human popsicles, ready to shatter with a single touch.

"It seems your negotiation didn't work," the figure said as he looked at Natasha and Coulson, who were still surrounded.

It was Lu Yi.

Natasha and Coulson recognized him immediately—and heard every word. But even then, neither dared speak.

The surrounding soldiers were terrified by Lu Yi's sudden appearance and his overwhelming power—but their training held. They didn't panic; instead, they tightened their perimeter around Coulson and Natasha.

"Do you need help?" Lu Yi asked, seeing how awkward their situation was.

Natasha and Coulson nodded desperately.

If they couldn't restrain Lu Yi now, they might never have another chance to stop him.

"Yuriko, help everyone out!"

The moment Lu Yi finished speaking, Yuriko darted out of the jet. Her slender Adamantium claws gleamed as she charged at the soldiers surrounding Natasha and Coulson.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The soldiers, knowing what Lu Yi was capable of, didn't underestimate Yuriko. They opened fire before she even got close.

But Yuriko moved like a wildcat—leaping and rolling across the ground, evading every bullet with inhuman agility. Not a single shot hit her.

Within seconds, she was among them.

In the soldiers' horrified eyes, she plunged her razor-thin Adamantium claws straight through the heart of the closest soldier.

Instant kill.

Then she used his falling body as a shield, closing in on the others, killing swiftly and mercilessly.

Yuriko danced among them like a ghost—every leap, every twist, every flick of her claws claimed another life.

In a little more than ten seconds, every soldier surrounding Natasha and Coulson lay dead.

Other soldiers tried to rush forward—but Lu Yi stood in their path. They could only watch, powerless.

"Kill them all!"

The major screamed desperately, unable to believe what he was seeing—his men dying one after another.

His order broke the last traces of restraint.

The soldiers grabbed their weapons and opened fire wildly—no longer caring who Natasha and Coulson were, no longer caring what consequences their actions might bring.

Natasha and Coulson were only human—they dared not face the bullets head-on. And while Yuriko had astonishing regenerative abilities, even she avoided direct fire—it still hurt to get shot.

They all looked for cover—everyone except Lu Yi.

Lu Yi didn't move.

He just stood there—calm, indifferent—as the hail of bullets poured down on him.

The soldiers watched in disbelief.

The attacks landed.

But Lu Yi didn't suffer even a scratch.

Not a single hair was harmed.

"How… how is that possible?!"

"What the hell is he?!"

"I don't care who he is—kill him!"

"How do we kill someone like that? How?! Damn it, who did we even provoke?!"

"I don't care who we pissed off—no one can withstand a tank! Our tanks will be here any minute!"

The soldiers' voices trembled with fear—but they hadn't lost hope.

Not yet.
