With Kirito ignoring their warnings and continuing to act on his own, the veteran elite of Konoha had made their decision.
"Then let's move out!"
The first to act was Konoha's Copy Ninja, Hatake Kakashi.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet Jutsu!"
Right behind him came the power-type shinobi Akimichi Chōza:
"Partial Expansion Jutsu!"
Then the direct assault type, Inuzuka Claw(Tsume):
"Three-Beast Wild Fang Overfang!"
For support, Nara Shikaku:
"Shadow Possession Jutsu!"
And for restriction, Aburame Shibi:
"Parasitic Insect Sphere!"
One after another, Konoha's senior elite unleashed their clan's finest techniques, most of them A-rank or higher, and secret arts passed down through generations. A barrage of black-shadowed attacks rained down, overwhelming in scale and power. Even a true Kage-level shinobi would be hard-pressed to endure such a storm.
Yet Kirito remained where he stood, still. His expression cold, indifferent. He neither blocked nor dodged.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion shook the earth as powerful ninjutsu rained down on the field, tearing up a hundred-meter radius like a plow through soft soil. A mushroom cloud of dust billowed into the air.
But standing at the very center of it all, Kirito was completely unharmed.
His gaze shifted ever so slightly, and in that instant, the entire onslaught vanished into thin air like smoke.
"Tch... That illusion failed too?"
Yūhi Kurenai bit her lip.
"It was an A-rank genjutsu... and it didn't work."
It turned out that the entire barrage had been a genjutsu. Not unexpected, after all, these were battle-hardened veterans of Konoha. Against a single junior, there was no way they would unleash their full power all at once.
"Let me handle this." Kakashi stepped forward, forming a single hand seal.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu."
Poof!
His clone summoned a Fūma Shuriken.
The shadow clone hurled the massive shuriken, using it as a feint. At the same time, Kakashi himself lunged forward from behind its spinning arc.
To his surprise, Kirito caught the shuriken mid-air, with his bare hand, and immediately spun it like a deadly windmill before hurling it straight back toward Kakashi.
"That angle!"
Kakashi's Sharingan read the trajectory instantly. The throw sealed off all his escape paths.
He quickly halted and formed hand seals.
"Earth Style: Earth-Style Wall!"
The wall rose just in time to block the incoming weapon, but Kakashi was rattled.
"What was that?" he murmured.
"That kind of shuriken technique... no, it's not something that can be done through skill alone. It requires visual prediction. Could it be... a Byakugan? No, his eyes don't look like that..."
"Kakashi! Look out!" someone shouted from behind.
Suddenly, Kakashi felt a terrifying pressure surging through the very wall he had just erected.
Instinctively, he leapt away.
"Eight Extreme Collapse"
BOOM!
A single punch tore through the wall, and even the shockwave alone shattered the entire barrier like glass. Waves of force surged outward, layered and violent, smashing everything in their path.
Kakashi vaulted high into the air, narrowly avoiding the direct impact.
"Gai (Guy)!" he shouted midair.
"Got it!"
The force blast shot toward Might Guy and the others.
With a grim expression, Guy stepped forward. Veins bulged across his forehead as he activated the Eight Gates.
"Leaf Taijutsu Secret Art: Rock Breaker Ascent!"
Meeting the incoming shockwave head-on, Guy launched a brutal upward knee strike.
BAM!
The air exploded around him as if he had collided with an invisible wall. The cracking of his bones echoed subtly, a testament to the pressure he was enduring.
Even so, Guy looked like he might not hold.
"Guy!"
Sarutobi Asuma stepped forward, drawing his dual chakra trench knives. A thick layer of chakra coated the blades.
"Want me to help?"
"Ha! No need. My youth still has plenty of fuel left!"
Guy's skin turned red, steam rising off his head like a geyser.
"Eight Gates Released Formation, Sixth Gate: Gate of View... OPEN!"
"Asa Kujaku!" (Morning Peacock!)
A flurry of blazing punches ignited the air, creating burning shockwaves with every strike. After exactly 227 consecutive punches, Guy finally shattered the layered force of Eight Extreme Collapse.
Having seen the attack neutralized, Kakashi let out a long breath and landed. His gaze turned serious as he looked at Kirito, still standing there calmly.
"He actually forced Guy to use Morning Peacock... Is this taijutsu?"
Then his Sharingan widened.
"No… that technique... It's not like Guy's pure taijutsu. It's closer to the legendary ninja-body hybrid techniques."
Suddenly, Kakashi's eyes shrank again.
Kirito casually raised a hand. A swirl of frost and snow gathered in his palm, condensing into a long, flawless white katana, blade, hilt, and guard, all sculpted from ice.
"That's it..."
Kakashi clenched his fists.
"That's the weapon... no hand seals, no preparation, just, instantly summoned!"
He had seen it before, two weeks ago at the Martial Hall. Back then it had only flashed for a moment, but now, it was fully visible, start to finish.
"First Dance: White Moon!" [Some no mai: Tsukishiro]
A white magic circle spread from beneath Kirito's feet. A pillar of pure light shot skyward.
Kakashi's face changed. He wanted to dodge, but midair, there was nothing to push off from. With combat-honed instinct, he quickly formed a clone seal.
"Poof!"
His shadow clone crouched beneath him just in time.
Using its shoulders as a launchpad, Kakashi leapt backward out of the light's path.
SWOOSH!
The main body escaped, but the clone was consumed by the beam. Everything within the magic circle, including air, was flash-frozen. A massive ice pillar formed in the sky, ten meters thick.
Reflected on its mirrored surface was Kakashi's shocked face, eyes wide, mouth agape.
"That's… Ice Release?!"
