Chapter 1 - A Touch Longed For

Chapter 1 : The First Whisper

Story:

The rain had stopped, yet the scent of dampness still lingered in the air.

She stood silently on the balcony, as if someone had paused the footsteps of time. Her hands were wet, but her heart carried a dryness no words could describe. Today, she felt that familiar emptiness—

the touch she longed for, a touch that could calm her soul.

It wasn't hunger, nor impatience…

just a yearning for closeness, a quiet belonging that grew heavier with each evening.

She was about to turn inside when she heard soft footsteps behind her.

She knew it was him—the one whose name her heart spoke without uttering.

He came quietly, without a word, as if silence itself could carry the conversation.

"Did you not sleep?" he asked gently.

She didn't smile. She only lowered her eyes and breathed softly.

"Sleep… it seems far away tonight," she replied.

He sat beside her, leaving a few inches of space, yet the air between them was thick with closeness.

"That touch… has it stayed in your mind all this time?" he asked softly, knowing the answer already.

She finally lifted her gaze. Her eyes glistened not with sorrow, nor weakness

but with the calm presence of someone finally feeling seen.

"Yes… that touch felt familiar, as if my heart had been waiting for it for years."

A pause settled between them.

He leaned closer, but this time only near enough to let her hear the rhythm of his breath.

His hand moved slowly not to hold hers, but to reach the spot between her brows, where her weariness usually gathered.

This touch was softer than the first, gentle, deliberate.

It seemed to say:

"Your heart's burdens are mine now."

She closed her eyes, silent, letting the comfort of his touch wash over her.

No rush, no desire… only belonging, soothing her heart slowly.

Then he didn't pull away.

Instead, his hands returned to hers, placing them safely between his own.

"If you wish… this touch will never lessen."

For the first time, complete calm filled her eyes.

No fear, no emptiness…

just a perfect moment her heart finally full.

She knew:

the first touch was a prayer…

this second touch was its fulfillment.
