Chapter 84: Provoking Investigation
Dropping the stone, Kaito reached into his pouch and tossed twelve shuriken into the air one by one.
He continued using Wind Release: Projectile Control Technique.
Kaito used the jutsu to control the shuriken, guiding them through the forest while avoiding all trees.
The shuriken moved continuously through the forest, all striking the same tree about five hundred meters from Kaito's position.
The next moment, Kaito used Wind Release: Body Flicker Technique and appeared beside that tree.
As he retrieved the shuriken, he summarized, "Wow, I didn't expect two months of Senju Style Taijutsu training to improve my ninjutsu this much. With Great Breakthrough, I can now infuse up to fifteen percent of my chakra. Although it takes a minute, the effect is excellent."
"Wind Release: Whirlwind Shield can only be infused with a maximum of 2.5 percent of my chakra—I can't put in any more. This is similar to Wind Release: Wind Wolf Technique; I can only infuse two percent of my chakra into each Wind Wolf."
"On the other hand, Wind Release: Wind Dragon can withstand twenty percent of my chakra. And using Wind Body Flicker to my current limit of five hundred meters consumes 1.5 percent of my chakra."
"Currently, Projectile Control has a negligible chakra requirement. Each Wind Blast only needs less than 0.1 percent of chakra. Wind Levitation isn't very useful in combat right now. However, Wind Pull can be used to create some chaos."
"All in all, that short demonstration just now consumed almost fifty percent of my chakra. I wonder if Renjiro-sensei will have more ways to improve my chakra capacity. But that shouldn't be a problem now, as I can't really overuse all my techniques in combat anyway."
Kaito once again gathered chakra, slamming his hands onto the ground. An earth wall appeared before him.
Seeing the barrier, Kaito sighed, "No wonder it's just an E-rank technique. It has already reached its limit for chakra enhancement. There's no more room for improvement."
The size of the earth wall was no larger than what Kaito had created two months prior.
He analyzed, "That being said, I still need to discuss with Renjiro-sensei to see if he has any methods to release techniques by stomping on the ground instead of slamming my hands down. Hmm, I'll ask him when we start ninjutsu training again."
With that, Kaito formed a set of hand seals and disappeared underground using Earth Release: Subterranean Voyage.
While underground, he lamented, "I've been so busy with various other things that I've never properly practiced this technique after graduation."
He continued moving underground for a while, then suppressed his chakra signature and formed a few more hand seals.
In an instant, he vanished and reappeared about one hundred and fifty meters in the direction he was heading.
"Hmm, Earth Release: Body Flicker and Wind Release: Body Flicker are excellent for escaping without leaving a trace. Earth Body Flicker is actually very suitable for infiltrating enemy territory. I wonder if any countermeasures have been developed against this technique."
Then he emerged from the ground, formed more hand seals, and placed his hands on the earth. The ground before him transformed into a muddy swamp. The swamp had a radius of about six meters and a depth of ten meters.
He immediately moved to a different spot, formed a few hand seals, and pressed his hands to the ground again.
This time, the ground slowly rose, as if intending to trap someone.
Kaito analyzed, "Earth Release: Earth Prison is simply too slow. Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld is somewhat similar. Then again, these are the only two techniques I can use to trap enemies. It should be enough for now."
After analyzing the current state of most of his techniques, Kaito prepared to head home and rest.
As he left, he looked at the ground and muttered to himself, "My ninjutsu arsenal should be sufficient for now, but I still need to learn Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall to further enhance my defensive capabilities. And my current chakra reserves should be enough for it. However, Renjiro-sensei might not allow me to learn it yet."
"Anyway, I hope we can participate in the next Chunin Exams. I really want to test myself in actual combat. That should be very interesting."
He grinned and looked up.
The sight before him made him a little embarrassed. Kaito's ninjutsu testing had completely devastated a large section of the forest. He thought to himself, "If someone came here and saw this, I wonder what they would think."
"Fortunately, this area is fairly remote, so people shouldn't come here often. But regardless, I still need to hide my tracks in case someone does show up. Also, it's best not to return here in the near future."
Kaito jumped onto a tree that still had branches intact.
He used Wind Release: Gale Palm.
A breeze swept through the forest, covering every footprint and slightly dispersing any lingering scent.
After completing the task, Kaito formed hand seals, disappeared from the spot, and reappeared on another branch five hundred meters away.
He used Wind Body Flicker several more times before exiting the forest.
After leaving the forest, he walked quickly toward his apartment, worried whether anyone would discover the destruction there.
Months later, two tokubetsu jonin from the Hyuga Clan happened to pass through this forest and inadvertently entered the area where Kaito had caused destruction. Seeing so many trees uprooted and chopped down, they were dumbfounded.
Coincidentally, a small squad of ANBU also happened to pass through the same area at that time. Seeing the two Hyuga present, they immediately began questioning them about why they destroyed the forest and whether a battle had occurred there.
The Hyuga shinobi denied the accusation and stated that the forest had already been destroyed before their arrival.
The ANBU carefully examined the area and realized that the destruction had occurred quite some time ago.
They investigated thoroughly, requesting the Hyuga Clan's assistance with their Byakugan, but found no clues.
They wondered if someone had been training here but didn't understand why anyone would train in this remote location when there were so many designated training grounds around Konoha.
The unusual nature of this destruction led them to report the situation to the Hokage.
Hiruzen was equally puzzled. He dispatched an ANBU squad specifically specialized in reconnaissance and tracking to investigate.
Unfortunately, two months had passed, and the Wind Release technique combined with several torrential rainstorms had erased everything that could have been used to find clues.
The ANBU investigation team returned empty-handed, and Hiruzen abandoned the case, as there were no leads and it wasn't worth allocating more resources to pursue it.
Of course, Kaito was completely unaware of these unfolding events.
After testing his ninjutsu, Kaito returned home and slept for a while longer.
Afterward, he reviewed his sealing technique knowledge, then went to Yakiniku Q for dinner.
The next day began again with an intense morning workout.
In the afternoon, the team members separated again, each training with one of Renjiro's Shadow Clones.
