Chapter 12 - Power Rangers SPD: Inverted Division — Episode 12: "Squad Evolution"Power

The Command Delta Hauler drifted silently over Newtech City, its engines humming like a mechanical heartbeat. Inside, Leo leaned over the command console, grinning.

> Leo: "Gentlemen… ladies… and slightly sentient Zords, welcome to the evolution lab."

> Delta: "Commander, using experimental SPD files carries a high probability of catastrophic failure."

Leo: "And yet, here we are. Probability is just a suggestion."

The Zords lined up in the hangar, lights dimmed for dramatic effect. Sparks flew as new components hummed to life.

> Sky Saber: "I don't know if I like this. I feel… heavier."

Leo: "Relax. You're not heavier. You're… upgraded."

> Guardian 7: "Upgraded implies efficiency. This looks… dangerous."

Leo: "Exactly. Danger is fun."

New Abilities Test

Leo activated the first upgrade: Delta Megazord Overdrive, linking the Zords' power cores in new configurations. Panels shifted, cannons rotated, wings extended, and energy thrummed across the armor.

> Prowler: "Whoa… I feel… stronger. And slightly more sarcastic."

Leo: "Good. That's part of the package. You're officially badass."

They ran small simulations first — holo-targets, obstacle courses, energy blasts. Chaos ensued.

> Sky Saber: "I'm spinning too fast! I might… enjoy this."

Leo: "Exactly! Spin faster. Hit harder. Look cooler."

> Cruiser: "My paint's melting again!"

Leo: "Optional cosmetic damage. Consider it battle flair."

Delta's holographic interface flickered.

> "Commander, cohesion between units has increased by thirty-four percent. Efficiency may drop under live conditions."

Leo: "Live conditions are my specialty. Let's test that theory."

Field Test — Downtown

Leo took the squad on a low-profile patrol. Within minutes, reports came in: a tech gang using experimental drones, stealing power nodes, and causing citywide havoc.

> Leo: "Ah, perfect. Our first live test. Squad, show off your new tricks."

Prowler leapt from rooftop to rooftop, claws retracting into mini energy cannons.

Sky Saber created a vortex blast, sending drones tumbling in perfect loops.

Guardian 7 extended energy shields like a moving wall, redirecting stray fire.

Cruiser barreled through obstacles, launching debris as improvised weapons.

> Leo (laughing): "See? Upgrades are fun. Don't try this at home, kids."

The tech gang's drones scrambled, clearly unprepared for the Inverted Zords' new capabilities. Leo coordinated like a maestro, timing blasts, maneuvers, and aerial strikes with impeccable chaos.

> Delta: "Commander, drones neutralized. Efficiency at ninety percent."

Leo: "Ninety? I'll take it. Squad, return to hangar. We're not done showing off yet."

---

Zord Evolution — Personalization

Back aboard the Hauler, Leo activated a Zord personalization protocol, creating new forms for each unit:

Delta Prowler gained retractable energy blades along its claws.

Sky Saber received upgraded thrusters for supersonic aerial loops.

Guardian 7 developed reinforced energy shielding and a short-range pulse attack.

Shadow Cruiser got kinetic impact boosters, allowing high-speed ground rams.

> Leo: "You all look amazing. Like black-and-red nightmares… with style."

> Sky Saber: "We're nightmares? That's… unsettling."

Leo: "Relax. You're the cool kind of nightmare."

---

Closing Moments

Leo leaned against the command console, helmet off, sipping a poorly replicated cup of coffee.

> Leo: "SPD thinks they can match us with fancy Megazords. Let's see how they handle inverted evolution."

The Zords hummed around him, lights glowing red in approval. For the first time, the squad felt like a real team, chaotic but coordinated, dangerous but stylish.

> Guardian 7: "Commander… this might actually work."

Leo: "It will work. Now, let's test these babies in a city that's never seen shadows move this fast."

Outside, Newtech City glimmered under neon lights. The storm clouds had cleared, but Leo knew SPD would be back. Stronger. Smarter. Annoyed.

> Leo (smirking): "Good. Perfect. Let's keep them guessing."
