"So it is true—the greatest fortunes are born from the darkest deeds. It makes up for all those years of investment."
Hyūga Kumokawa glanced at the intermittently increasing "Fulfillment Points." This was the first time he had seen the number reach five digits.
As the name implied, "Fulfillment Points" could be used to manifest external objects born from imagination, but they could not be used directly on himself to enhance his power instantly.
For instance, he could not directly grant himself an Ōtsutsuki bloodline. However, he could manifest the method to awaken such a bloodline.
The way to earn "Fulfillment Points" was to have more people believe his "lies," causing them to experience intense emotional fluctuations.
The amount earned was judged on several criteria.
First was the nature of the deception used, represented by the [Achievements] in the panel. [Crocodile Tears], [Honeyed Words], and [Muddling Through] were methods he had used a few times before. [Sacrificing the Pawn], [Honeyed Words, Hidden Dagger], and [Falsehood Made Real] were, naturally, the methods used against Orochimaru.
These last three were clearly on a higher level than the first three, thus yielding a significantly greater number of points.
Second was the quantity and quality—or strength—of the targets. Deceiving a Genin and deceiving Orochimaru were tasks of vastly different difficulty, resulting in different point yields.
Finally, it depended on the degree of trust the target placed in the lie, and the intensity of the emotional fluctuation it caused.
When Hyūga Kumokawa had first crossed into this world and obtained the system, the novice package contained a mere 100 Fulfillment Points.
Based on his tests, a single point could roughly manifest a refined kunai, a fingernail-sized piece of chakra-conductive metal, or a poorly made standard explosive tag.
One hundred points wasn't much, but it wasn't nothing, either. However, it couldn't manifest powerful jutsu, let alone a Kekkei Genkai. It was somewhat underwhelming.
So, after roughly understanding his dire situation, Kumokawa set his sights on Orochimaru.
He knew his greatest asset wasn't the meager 100 points, but his knowledge of this world.
Having lived through two Great Ninja Wars, Orochimaru harbored a deep-seated desire for "truth" and a profound fear of "death." "Immortality" had become his obsession.
It was just like in the original timeline: when Orochimaru's body was breaking down and he urgently needed to transfer to a new vessel, he still stubbornly waited for Sasuke to return so he could take that body.
Back then, Kabuto had needed only one sentence to make Orochimaru yield out of fear:
"If you don't transfer immediately, you'll lose everything! Is that okay?!"
For Orochimaru, losing everything was an absolutely unbearable pain, one that outweighed even his obsession with the Sharingan.
What he truly wanted was never just immortality or the Sharingan. He wanted everything—to learn every jutsu in the world and grasp all its truths.
Only by living forever could he achieve that. Only a more powerful bloodline could make it possible.
Thus, a forged ancient scroll was born. It contained secrets that were two parts fabrication and eight parts truth, complete with the appearance of complex sealing jutsu.
In reality, there was nothing behind those "seals." Orochimaru could never "unlock" them, simply because Kumokawa hadn't even figured out what to write next.
Or rather, he had an idea. It would be a lie that transcended the existing shinobi world's framework. But he wasn't ready to show it to Orochimaru yet.
Only a man who had truly mastered the "Living Corpse Reincarnation" and the secrets of the soul, like Orochimaru, was fit to execute the next stage of his lie—the one concerning souls. He was the perfect pawn for the next act of the play.
From start to finish, Orochimaru only saw what Hyūga Kumokawa wanted him to see.
Even the fact that Orochimaru was able to take the scroll and the flesh sample was intentional, a setup to guide him further based on the "future contents."
The smarter and more prideful a person was, the more they trusted their own judgment.
These deceptions cost only 30 Fulfillment Points. Forging the sealing jutsu effects was the most expensive part. Aging the scroll cost only a single point. The so-called "ancient secrets" were pure fabrication.
The remaining 70 points were used to manifest a shell—a vessel that was all looks with nothing inside—the so-called Ōtsutsuki clan body Orochimaru coveted.
These two items, especially the secrets in the scroll, delivered a massive shock to Orochimaru's worldview, instantly multiplying Kumokawa's Fulfillment Points several times over.
The points earned sporadically afterward were all poured into filling that hollow shell. Over the years, over ten thousand points were spent, exchanged for the organs of a "true" Ōtsutsuki clan member.
However, this "Ōtsutsuki clan" referred to the lineage on the moon, not the extraterrestrial Ōtsutsuki.
A true Ōtsutsuki physique should be at least on the level of the Sage of Six Paths—a species entirely different from the humans of this world.
"Ten thousand points were, as expected, not enough to manifest a true Ōtsutsuki body."
Looking at the '5% Ōtsutsuki bloodline' indicator, Hyūga Kumokawa's eyes gleamed.
'When I manifested it, the bloodline purity I used as a benchmark was… Ōtsutsuki Toneri.
Toneri possessed the purest Ōtsutsuki bloodline. Even Ōtsutsuki Urashiki had referred to him as a 'clansman,' distinguishing him from the 'inferior beings' he called Sasuke and Naruto. Besides Kaguya, there is probably no purer Ōtsutsuki descendant in the entire shinobi world.
A bloodline comparable to his was my limit for now. Plus, that body was tailor-made using me as a template. That is why its organs could perfectly integrate with mine, causing this earth-shattering transformation in my body.'
But he didn't know exactly what level this body had reached.
Now, he needed to focus on fully integrating the Ōtsutsuki bloodline, finding ways to increase its purity, and using that to accelerate the awakening of the Tenseigan.
"There should be two jutsu capable of achieving this."
With this thought, Hyūga Kumokawa got out of bed and walked into another room…
Time passed swiftly.
The rain gradually ceased. The light of dawn split the gloom of the night, illuminating the lawn and refracting through the morning dew.
At dawn, Konoha was still quiet, especially within the rigidly hierarchical and rule-bound Hyūga clan compound.
But a series of boisterous, unorthodox laughter shattered the clan's tranquility.
"Ohoh! Now is the perfect time for youth to bloom! Hahahaha!"
The laughter announced his presence before he came into view, making the Hyūga clansman on guard duty twitch at the corner of his mouth. Then, he spotted the green figure in the distance.
Bowl-cut hair, thick black eyebrows, a red scarf, his forehead protector tied around his waist, and his hands wrapped in bandages.
A bizarre green jumpsuit, kicking up a cloud of dust as he ran on his hands. There was only one person in all of Konoha like this.
Konoha Chūnin, Might Guy.
'That uncouth brute again. A perfect match for that failure.'
The Hyūga clansman did his best to conceal the disgust and contempt in his eyes. Though he looked down on Might Guy, he didn't stop him or bar his entry.
Doing so would be a breach of etiquette by the Hyūga clan. Recently, the Main Family had celebrated the third birthday of their young heiress. He couldn't afford to cause trouble during such an important time.
"Good morning!"
Under the clansman's gaze, Might Guy flashed him a wide grin. His spotlessly white teeth gleamed under the morning sun, dazzlingly bright.
Paying no mind to the Hyūga clansman's dismissive attitude, Guy brushed the dust off himself and walked right in.
