Chapter 3 - Chapter 1: Rei Nishimura (1)

It all began with a myth and false belief during the pandemic. In 2020, there were people who started to get sick and pass away briefly but one day, a sudden phenomenon started to appear all over the world claiming they appeared to gain supernatural abilities.

Most people used them for entertainment, justice and spiritual healing however there will always be the dark side where others used them for tyranny, selfish and destructive purposes. This divided the world and law when more started to gain these unique ability traits.

Everyone is separated from this type of phenomenon. Those who awakened with powers are called awakeners or inheritors that take the most extreme careers to ensure the safety of others in which we call them sorcerers, the powers they received are named as 'prowess'. Then those who didn't awaken one are what we call 'blanks', ones who couldn't adapt their biological structures to inherit any prowess.

This phenomenon separated us in a hierarchy structure with blanks as the lowest then god-tiers as the highest. The structure goes from blanks, low-tiers, mid-tiers, elite-tiers, high-tiers and lastly, god-tiers. A hierarchy structure like this had put everyone at chokehold during the old ages since our world had a corrupted system made by drunken and corrupt individuals.

It went for a long generation until the world was able to adapt through these changes ever since a god-tier had managed to bring everyone together to create a world fitted for both sides. Awakened and unawakened started to co-operate which helped them to see eye to eye with each other despite some of them still protesting which still exist to this day due to their old traditional beliefs and personal vendetta.

....

 Hong Kong, Nam Cheong

A male with jet-black wearing what seemed to be a school uniform consisting of a light blue theme walked around the streets as he noticed a crowd ahead of him. "Another trouble again?" He thought to himself before checking it out himself.

At the scene, there were two groups rallying against each other; glowing hue of energy emitting from their bodies as some manifested an energy whip, barrier like shield, bullets and lastly an enhancement from how bright their aura is.

"This is our territory!" One of the group said while another one responded back, "Back off! It's our turf!"

An elderly man muttered to himself, sighing in disappointment that people would use their prowess to cause a ruckus all because of a childish reason. "People these days…" He looked disappointed before a police officer arrived to stop the rally except it got worse when both parties started to get aggressive.

"Jeez. It got worse…" The elderly said as he watched the police officer struggled to apprehend one person before reaching out to his radio to signal for reinforcements. "Is he stupid? He could've used the guy with the barrier as a shield while using their lightning ability to shock the guy with the water ability from how wet the area around the others is." The old man looked over to where he had heard the soft muttering.

A jet-black haired male with red eyes and a uniform that he recognised. "Are you a student from Sir Ellis Kadoorie High?" The elderly man asked while the young male nodded his head. "I see… Must be their curriculum that made you smart for finding the pros and cons of the situation then." He added while the male shocked his head.

"No, sir. It's a habit that I developed." The young man said politely before the both of them looked ahead as the situation was resolved the moment more police officers had arrived. "Time to go back to our daily lives then." The elderly joked as they went ahead to go on their own ways while the latter went to a different route.

....

"You're late!" A staff scolded him before they decided to dismiss him when they heard police sirens wailing in the background. "You're excused for now. Just don't be late all because a ruckus happened on your way here, make sure to inform the school if you're running late when something happens like this again."

"Yes, sir." The same black haired male responded, "Just don't do it again, Rei." the staff sighed before letting him go on his way to class.

[5th year high school student]

[Name: Rei Nishimura]

[Age: 18]

....

Rei finally arrived at his class before explaining to his class teacher with his excuse of being late. The sounds of papers being flipped over, the class chattering to their seat mates quietly either gossiping or helping each other while he was minding his own business before the teacher ended the lesson even though there was still time remaining.

"All of you are almost graduating soon the moment y'all finish your sixth year… We will discuss the career you're choosing…" The class went quiet before the teacher smiled, "Who am I kidding. Of course, you all are aiming to have a great profession!" Immediately, the entire class started to cheer except for Rei.

"Teach, We'll be fine. After all, we are aiming to be the very best!" A female stated while the rest agreed with her. "She's right. We are going to ace our academics to be able to get into a university and college suited for our career!" More students agreed with their statement before the teacher calmed them down.

"I know. I've been your class teacher for the last two years. The next year will be our last year spent together and I can't help but worry for all of you, especially what happened last month." The teacher stated as the entire class became gloomy while Rei flinched at it.

"Anyways, speaking of career. Rei. Aren't you applying to become a sorcerer?" The single statement that came out of their mouth surprised everyone as they started to gossip loudly, not minding his discomfort.

"Him? Of all people?"

"No way! He's too unhinged to be one."

"It must be a joke. After everything that he has done?"

"He lost his mind then."

Rei sighed, regretting telling the class teacher since he wanted for it to be a secret but now it was impossible to stay in the dark. "Fuck my life… Why did I open up in the first place…" He thought to himself while trying to ignore everyone and the class teacher's attempt at trying to calm everyone down.

Rei understood why half of his class were losing their mind due to what he had done back in the days. The days where he was a troublemaker that had always put the school in chaos. Fights at the corridors whenever people always manage to provoke him or just general fighting which turns into a one sided assault with him winning.

There was nothing in between to please anyone at his school since most of the people had advanced in life while he was stuck clinging to a dream that he wasn't sure that he'll take.

Rei sighed as he decided to focus on the upcoming class after the teacher had manage to put his class to focus on the lesson rather than his situation. The long boredom of lecture and sounds of paper rustling along with pens scribbling to either write down notes or something in general to contribute for their studies.

This was the only silence and peace that he could get before and after the incident. Rei's emotional state of being was never in the right place since he always had his guard up while having doubts of being peace despite how calm and composed the setting was.

Surely, there was nothing that could go wrong other than when the lessons are done. Rei could only pray for his luck to do something that could help him out of the situation or to at least be able to avoid trouble again.
