Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Snail Case!

Xu Liang had a premonition that as long as he completed certain cases and recorded them, he could earn some rewards.

From the writing format above, it seems that what's needed is case-related matter.

Thus, he inherited his father's wish and opened a law firm.

However, in the months after passing his lawyer certification, he handled civil lawsuits and tried some commercial clients, but no matter how he wrote, the handwriting would soon disappear, none of them were suitable!

Perhaps...

He hadn't met the right client?

"Is it today?"

Xu Liang leaned back in his chair, looking at the bottom right corner of the kraft paper, where the page number was.

[20040601]

Only this number appeared before his eyes.

What does this mean?

If you work in the judicial system, you'll find this number is a date!

It represents June 1st, 2004, which means today!

Does this imply that the things he can write on this paper will appear today?

Because of this, he told Uncle Zhang that someone would come today.

But...

Xu Liang paused, looking up at the increasingly dim scene outside the law firm.

He received seven calls today, none of which were from clients, and as the sky grew darker, there were still no signs of anyone coming...

He turned his head to look at the clock on the wall.

[Time: 17:11]

5:11 PM, less than 7 hours until midnight, June 2nd.

"Will there really be business today? Did I guess the meaning of the date wrong?"

Xu Liang furrowed his brows.

If someone is coming... waiting further would be deep into the night.

11 o'clock, midnight, coming to a law firm at night... what kind of client would that be?

"Forget it, whatever the client is."

"As long as there's money to pay the rent."

...

...

At night.

Inside Conscience Law Firm.

"Creak~"

A sudden creaking sound startled the dozing Xu Liang awake in the chair.

He abruptly opened his eyes and looked around.

Time silently passed while he dozed, the sun set, and dusk was cloaked in darkness.

The whole world was pitch black, the outside was an oppressive silence, looking up, he only saw the creaking window blown by the wind.

"Phew, scared me."

Xu Liang breathed a sigh of relief, got up, closed the window in the dark, and looked at the clock on the wall again.

23:17

It was already 11:17 PM, 43 minutes until June 2nd.

"Is it really this late already..."

Xu Liang furrowed his brow, looking outside.

"Why hasn't anyone come yet?"

Outside was pitch black, the late night street silent, and the restaurant across looked like a black-and-white photo.

The city had fallen into a deep sleep.

He waited from midnight on June 1st, now 23 hours had passed, not even seeing a customer fitting the target.

Not even a ghost!

"Tsk, did I really guess wrong?"

Xu Liang shook his head, got up and slightly tidied up his belongings.

He wasn't in a hurry to leave.

He had waited 23 and a half hours, no reason to skip the last half hour.

After tidying up, Xu Liang sat idly on the sofa.

For a while.

The last half hour passed.

"Dong~ Dong~"

The clock on the wall chimed with a special sound of the hour.

Midnight... had arrived.

"I really guessed wrong."

Xu Liang wasn't discouraged, grabbed his packed belongings and headed for the door.

Starting out as a lawyer is tough, if the kraft paper can be used it would be handy, if not... it doesn't matter.

With his credentials, the firm can overcome the current difficulties, even if not, he can work at top-tier or red-circle law firms.

In short.

"The boat will go straight when it reaches the bridge."

But...

"Creak~"

Xu Liang put his hand on the door handle to push outward, suddenly feeling resistance from the door handle.

He furrowed his brow.

"Is the hinge broken?"

Xu Liang paused, reached out to try pushing the door again, but still felt resistance, like something was stuck.

Checking the hinge, there were no signs of damage, but...

Something was wedged in the gap.

"What is this?"

Xu Liang crouched down, seeing the door hinge gap, a piece of meat was stuck outside the door.

He reached out to pull out the long strip thing stuck in the door gap; it was quite elastic, fortunately not too wedged tightly.

After removing it, he squatted outside the door, placing one end of the thing in his hand to play with for a bit.

In the hand...

Very smooth.

Very silky!

The surface had unknown mucus attached, shaped like a grilled sausage, diameter about 2.5 centimeters, slightly pinching it gave a smooth and tender feel.

Very long, like a hose.

One end connected to Xu Liang's law firm, the other unknown where it led.

Is this a rope?

Xu Liang furrowed his brow, a fishy smell entered his nose.

He was about to trace it using his hand, like climbing a rope, following it forward.

Tracing it... suddenly his steps halted.

Xu Liang suddenly fell silent.

What thing resembles a sausage?

Intestines.

How long can intestines be?

If it's a mature pig's, the small intestine is usually 12-16 meters, the large intestine 3-4 meters.

For cow's, the small intestine is 25-40 meters, the large intestine 15-20 meters.

Xu Liang's hand had a 5-meter-long one.

A 5-meter intestine, not commonly seen in nature. To really understand, he needed to know what species it came from.

Xu Liang followed the intestine, discovering a body collapsed on the ground.

What is this...

In the darkness, Xu Liang crouched to the ground, slightly tilting to examine it more closely.

Momentarily.

A dreadfully pale human face appeared, faint white pupils staring at him intensely!

The human face's features were distorted, pupils scattered, wanting to speak but unable to, lifeless and dead silent.

It's a person.

The thing in his hand was human intestines.

Xu Liang silently stared at the person collapsed on the ground.

The person lay on their side, expression terrifying like a ghost, head raised looking into the distance, filled with terror.

One hand extended far, five fingers worn to blood, tense as if trying to grab something.

The other hand covered the abdomen, blood flowing through the fingers.

Upon closer look, his stomach had been cut open, an upper abdomen stabbed in!

The knife slashed downward fiercely, the stomach tearing open, red and yellow slowly flowed out...

Instantly, a rancid smell permeated the air.

Several wild cats in the darkness gazed maliciously, their eyes glowing.

Xu Liang quietly put down the thing in his hand, wiping the intestinal fluid off with sand.

But...

The next second, as if thinking of something, Xu Liang hesitated, a shocked expression on his face.

He quickly grabbed the kraft book from his briefcase, flipping open the cover directly.

The next second, the originally blank page, suddenly had clear handwriting appear!

[Number '20040601', Case 'Snail·Case!']

[Written '2546 loops']

[(Blank)]

[(Not written)]

[Note: (This payment should not be less than fifty thousand Eastern Country currency!)]

Looking at the middle-top of the white paper, these strokes and fonts...

Xu Liang suddenly paused.

He seemed to have found his client.

It's just that his client seemed to have encountered a little accident.

Xu Liang turned back around, hesitated a moment, looking at the gutted corpse in front, asking softly.

"Are you okay?"

The 'client' was cold, not answering, the dead, blank face was staring at him with pallid pupils.

Xu Liang tried checking the body for residual warmth.

The client was indeed cold, at least for an hour.

Looking at the words [(Not written)], Xu Liang fell into deep thought.

The good news is, the client had been found, the remuneration at least fifty thousand Eastern Country currency, the law firm has a future!

But the bad news also arrived.

"What if the client is dead?"
