Lauren Sutton turned her head to look at Donovan Rhodes, her boss radiating an imposing presence.
Donovan reined in his explosive temper and didn't dare act recklessly: "Lawyer Sutton, I've been in charge of the Caelus Technologies project all along. Switching people midway isn't great for the firm's reputation, is it?"
"There's only one thing that can damage the firm's reputation—a lawyer's lack of competence leading to a major loss for our client." Lauren's face was expressionless; her tone revealed no anger, but not a single employee in the room dared breathe loudly.
She hadn't mentioned names, but it was obvious she was calling out Donovan's lack of business ability.
For now at least, he still wasn't up to carrying the Caelus Technologies project.
Donovan's face fell. "About the issue with the legality of funds, I can explain…"
But Lauren interrupted: "I have the time to listen to your explanation—does our client?"
