Elena opened her eyes dazed as the other girl shook her violently.
She sat up quickly.
"Hmm....., Cassy am awake already!!" She muttered rubbing her eyes.
"What is wrong with you ??, how could you forget?? The girl asked angrily.
Elena looked at her in confusion, trying to recall what she was taking about.
"What...??
Cassy looked at her in disbelief. " Don't tell me you really forgot??
Elena searched her memory for anything that would make her understand what the other girl was talking about.
"Mother would be so angry with you if you don't prepare and get down immediately.Mr Lucien is already on the way, get up" Cassy said still frowning.
Elena gasped, had she not told her parents earlier that she was not interested in getting married to anybody, especially to one who was not even in the country??.
She shook her head, disbelief clearly written on her face. "I'm not going down there and neither am i getting married to any man who don't even have the smallest courtesy of meeting the woman he claims to want to marry" she objected stubbornly as she made to go back to sleep.
Cassy's frown deepened. "Mom!!! Mom?? " she shouted in annoyance.
Elena simply closed her eyes as she sat on the bed.one would've thought she was only trying to be a caring sister, but Elena knew the deal, Cassy just wanted her to go along with the marriage because Mr Lucien had come to propose a marriage proposal between Cassy and his long lost son, but no..., Cassy already had her eyes set on someone else. And now she had managed to persuade her father and her stepmother to get Elena married in her place instead.
Her father really needed Mr Lucien help because his company had wen facing some issues, Mr Lucien had offered to help only if they accepted the marriage proposal.
The door opened widely as Juliet, her stepmother walked into the room, properly dressed as the mistress of the house.
she always had makeup on her face that sometimes, Elena wondered if she slept with makeup on her face. Juliet would always say that was how a proper woman was expected to behave and she had been coaching Cassy since she was a little girl, little wonder why the girl was already dolled up before leaving her room to go call her.
"What is it? Juliet asked Cassy before turning her head to look at Elena who had closed her eyes again. " You are not serious, are you?? She wore an annoyed expression.
" Why are you still not yet dressed, oh my God, Mr Lucien will soon be here" she massage her forehead, feeling her head ache all of a sudden.
"I'm not going down to meet anybody" Elena said stubbornly, eyes still closed.
"You wouldn't dare!! Juliet looked down at her angrily, she was about to burst from anger.
" Try me" The girl on the bed finally opened her eyes. Something willful flashed in her eyes.
" Cass, go get your father here" Juliet said to Cassy who nodded her head in reply before leaving the room.
Seriously? Elena thought. Her father was the only one who could get her to do anything whether she was willing or not. Juliet was not oblivious of this fact. God! How she despised that woman!! She screeched inwardly.
" You are trying to put your father to shame, you know that right?? Juliet tried to reason with her using a very soft voice.
"There's nothing shameful about me not going down to meet the man who is brought a marriage proposal for my younger sister." She answered back.
" You know that Cassy can marry lucien's son" Juliet frowned. Elena wondered if her face would wrinkle from the number of times she had had to frown that morning.
" Why?? Because she had set her eyes on Harris who happened to be my ex fiance?? Elena asked, displeasure written on her face.
"You know that it wasn't's mine or cassy's fault , you should have learnt how to keep a man from your mother, but how could you?? When she ran away before you were even old enough to know her??" Juliet mocked her with a tiny smile.
"Don't you dare bring my mother into this, afterall, i can also say you trained your daughter to be quite a seductress " Elena returned the evil smile.
" How dare you?? Juliet raised her voice in anger.
" I think that's quite enough". Elena looked over to find her father all dressed up looking at the two of them, displeased.
