Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Death Comes Knocking (IV)

Chapter 41: Death Comes Knocking (IV)

Witnessing the black substance flow into the house, William pondered.

This situation was within his expectations.

He had guessed earlier that these things weren't evil spirits or demons, so the Demon-Trapping Array might not be able to stop them.

Meanwhile, inside the house.

After sending away the guests, Ms. Lewton went to the stove.

After talking to that priest, she felt much better inside.

At the same time, Lewton made a decision.

She planned to resign from the school after attending the funeral and move to another city.

Thinking of this, she suddenly felt a chill, so she took the kettle from the cabinet and filled it halfway with water.

Some water stains remained on the spout.

Lewton took out a towel.

After wiping off the water stains, she threw the towel onto the knife block.

But when she turned her head, she found a black shadow reflected on the kettle.

She turned around in horror, but saw no one.

Only a window not far away was open, and the breeze lifted the curtains.

"Alex? Father William?"

Lewton called their names, thinking they were playing a prank.

But the living room was quiet, so she could only shake her head, thinking she was too tired.

While waiting for the water to boil, she closed her eyes and rested.

A few minutes later.

White steam puffed from the spout, and a whistle pulled Lewton back to reality.

She hurriedly turned off the gas and poured the hot water into a mug.

But just as she was about to drink, Lewton glimpsed a black shadow in the cup again.

"Ah!"

She screamed and splashed the hot water on the floor.

"God, it's just an illusion..."

Lewton comforted herself.

Seeing that she couldn't drink the hot water, she went to the refrigerator.

"Huh? Where's my bottle of wine?"

Lewton clearly remembered putting a bottle of brandy imported from Russia in the fridge.

At this moment, under the bed in the bedroom.

A mass of black substance was surrounding a wine bottle.

The bottle was labeled "Spirit," and because it had just been taken out of the fridge, condensation dripped from it.

The black substance remained motionless, facing the wine bottle.

Inside the kitchen.

Lewton shook her head and had to take out a soda instead.

After adding a few ice cubes, she poured the soda into the mug.

But Lewton didn't notice that a mass of black substance was wrapped around the bottom of the cup at this time.

Soon, a crack appeared on the edge of the mug.

Lewton walked through the living room with the mug, and the soda spilled all over the floor.

But the bubbling sound still attracted Lewton's attention.

She thought she spilled it while walking, so she hurriedly put the cup on the computer and turned back to the living room to get a towel.

On the computer, the leaking liquid dripped onto the circuit board, and the black substance arrived just in time.

Just as it was preparing to find the current along the line, it "discovered" that the plug had been pulled out.

The black substance stagnated in place again.

Inside the kitchen.

Lewton grabbed the towel from the knife block, and at this time, one of the knives was "coincidentally" pulled out.

By the force of the towel, the knife slid toward Lewton on the counter.

But because the knife block was placed too close to the wall (presumably moved by William earlier), the force on the knife was quickly dissipated, stopping just at the edge of the counter.

Only then did Lewton become alert.

She saw the blade was only a centimeter away from her stomach; if it went any further, it would have stabbed her.

She was startled inside, hurriedly put the knife back into the block carefully, and then turned to deal with the water stains on the floor.

At this time, on the knife block, a mass of black substance trembled slightly.

Then, it seemed a bit "angry" and instantly flew to the bottom of the stove.

But immediately after, it found that it couldn't ignite the fire.

It circled around and found a small amulet placed next to the stove, emitting a pure power.

"Unreconciled," it went to Lewton's side again.

There was a shelf here with some items on it.

The shelf suddenly began to shake, then smashed toward Lewton.

Crash.

Things fell all over the floor.

But inside were just some tissues, dolls, and the like, not a single sharp object.

"Ah!"

Lewton held her head in horror.

At this time, the door was opened.

Alex rushed in and helped Lewton up from the ground.

William stood outside the house and spotted the mass of black substance at a glance.

"Emma, go!"

Emma seemed a bit displeased with being ordered but still walked quickly into the house.

Then, following William's instructions, she splashed a bottle of 20-year-old holy water.

Sizzle... hiss...

Most of the black substance was instantly purified, but a part still escaped through the window.

"What happened? Didn't you leave?"

Lewton looked confused; she was completely bewildered.

"Alex, bring your teacher; let's chase."

...

On the way to Carter's house, Alex told Lewton what had happened.

The latter looked incredulous.

But there were too many bizarre things happening this night, so Lewton's heart was also shaken.

The group soon arrived at the destination.

They knocked on the door.

Inside the house, Carter was cuddling with his girlfriend, Terry.

Hearing the knock, the former got up with an unhappy face.

Opening the door, Carter found the visitor was the kid he hated the most.

He was about to close the door immediately.

But Alex reached out to stop him and told him the purpose of their visit nicely.

"Are you a three-year-old? You actually believe this charlatan's words?"

Carter looked mocking.

"My life is my own to control; no one can kill me!"

Then, he extended his fist to demonstrate to William:

"Don't let me hear your nonsense again!"

"While I'm in a good mood, get lost!"

Carter wantonly spouted high-risk lines.

But William's attention wasn't on him.

Behind him, the mass of black substance appeared from the window again.

It wrapped around a catapult toy, and then a small ball flew out of the cylinder.

The toy ball flew to the wooden table in the living room, where a knife happened to be placed.

In the next moment, the small ball hit the handle of the knife, knocking it into the air.

At the door.

Carter was still rambling.

But the priest in front of him suddenly stuffed a leather shoe into his hand and pulled his arm to turn him around.

Carter immediately felt offended.

"What the f*ck are you do..."

But before he could finish, Carter noticed the knife flying toward him.

He turned pale with fright and instinctively raised his hand.

With a soft sound, the knife stuck into the back of the leather shoe.

Shocked, Carter was pulled aside by the priest again.

Immediately after, the light bulb above his original standing position suddenly fell.

If not for the priest, Carter would have had his head blown open by now.

Emma curiously studied the principles behind it.

Alex's eyes widened.

Lewton also covered her mouth, looking shocked.

"This... what is going on!" Carter panicked now.

But the priest pushed him and stuffed an object into his hand.

"Hold it tight."

Carter was unsteady for a moment and stumbled back a few steps into the living room.

And as soon as he left the doorway, the floorboards there suddenly curled up, revealing a row of sharp nails.

Carter fell to the ground.

At this time, the things in the room seemed to come alive, flying toward Carter one after another.

Discarded pen nibs, glass wine glasses, wriggling electrical cords...

Carter deeply felt the malice of this world toward him.

He curled up, clutching the thing the priest gave him tightly with both hands, not daring to look up at all.

His girlfriend Terry also looked shocked, leaning against the corner of the table watching this incredible scene.

But even more unexpectedly.

After flying in front of Carter, these objects seemed to suddenly lose power and fell vertically.

For a time, many marks were smashed into the wooden floor.

It lasted for a full minute before the sound gradually ceased.

Carter slowly raised his head.

The room was a mess.

Centered on where he sat, the fallen objects formed a circle around him, looking quite eerie.

Only then did Carter realize something.

He looked down; his palm had red marks from gripping for a long time.

And in his palm lay a mini crucifix quietly.
