I had just taken off my earrings, placing them carefully on the vanity, when my phone buzzed against the glass surface. I glanced at the screen lazily at first, until I saw the name attached to the notification.
He went to see her.
My fingers stilled.
I opened the message fully.
Thomas had lunch with Tessa today.
For a second, I didn't breathe.
Then the chair behind me screeched loudly as I stood up so fast it nearly toppled over.
"He did what?" I whispered, but the words came out sharp.
My grip tightened around my phone.
Lunch.
He went to see her.
After everything.
After all the arguments. After the promises. After telling me he was done chasing someone who clearly didn't choose him.
Rage rose so quickly it felt like fire under my skin.
I grabbed the perfume bottle on my vanity and hurled it across the room. It hit the wall and shattered, glass and expensive scent exploding into the air.
