Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Director Ken, that lucky man with E luck

There was no doubt that Morgan was a woman whose beauty reached the extreme. It was no exaggeration to say that she was the very definition of beauty.

A fresh and pure young girl, a mature and seductive woman… on her, it seemed one could see the finest women of every age group, a unique charm that perfectly fused innocence with allure.

When she lifted her head, even in the dim alley, that utterly beautiful face was so bright and captivating.

However, when he finally saw the woman's appearance clearly, Kayneth's pupils suddenly contracted.

"Gray?", Reines, who was not far beside him, almost blurted out.

There was no doubt that the woman before them really did look like Gray… not just similar, but exactly identical.

"Step back, Reines!"

Yet just as Reines was about to move forward, Kayneth sharply twisted his head and barked at her.

Under Reines's confused gaze, Kayneth said coldly, "I told you long ago, magi are deceivers. You don't identify a person by their face."

As he said the last part, he turned to look at the woman in front of him and continued slowly, "Her magic circuits are completely different from Gray's."

Yes, from the very instant this woman used her mana just now, Kayneth had sensed it.

This woman's magic circuits were not something modern magi could possibly control.

There was no doubt, this overwhelmingly bewitching and beautiful woman was actually a monster.

Reines calmed down slightly and soon began quietly examining the woman at the mouth of the alley with eyes full of shock and suspicion.

Then, as if she had noticed something, Reines's body trembled slightly without her control.

Normally, a magus forms circuits within their own body, drawing mana from the outside world for their use. These circuits were a magus's imitation of nerves unique to them.

One could say that magic circuits were the foundation for generating mana, and the number of circuits was already determined at birth.

But this woman's magic circuits, Reines couldn't even feel how immense they were.

There was no doubt that this woman was absolutely a mage from the Age of Gods, and not just an ordinary one. The magic circuits she possessed were already at an unimaginably monstrous level.

'Who on earth is she? And why does she have the exact same face as Gray?'

Reines's mind was a complete mess.

"Looks like you don't intend to submit?"

Morgan le Fay raised her head and looked at Kayneth, her tone soft and calm, "Should I say you have your own sense of dignity, or, that you are blindly ignorant of your own strength?"

Kayneth had already calmed down. He quietly examined the woman in front of him, and soon, a faintly arrogant smile appeared on his face.

"You will pay for your blind arrogance, mage from the Age of Gods."

"Oh?"

Morgan le Fay narrowed her eyes, "You—"

BOOM!

Before she could finish, countless streams of mercury surged forth.

In an instant, the mercury tightly bound Morgan le Fay's feet.

Though he was a Lord, Kayneth was not a fool. The moment this woman blocked their way, she became the enemy.

And when facing an enemy, there was naturally no need to insist on fair and just combat. The conversation just now was only to distract her. All along, Kayneth had secretly released the stored moon spirit liquid, letting the mercury corrode the woman before him.

"Your greatest mistake is arrogance. Even though you're a mage from the Age of Gods, your body is still, at its core, the fragile flesh of a human," Kayneth let out a cold snort and slowly raised his hand.

"Now, regret your arrogance, mage of the Age of Gods."

This time, behind Kayneth weren't just a few scattered mercury bullets, but dense ammunition that covered nearly half the area.

The mana in the air rippled slightly. Mana gathered in every single mercury bullet.

Then they were all fired at once, shooting violently toward Morgan le Fay.

"Arrogant?", However, Morgan le Fay only lowered her lashes slightly as she looked at the mercury binding her legs.

Soon, the corner of her mouth curved into a breathtaking smile.

For some reason, Kayneth suddenly felt a bad premonition rise in his heart.

Facing the oncoming bullets, Morgan le Fay neither dodged nor avoided them. Instead, she lifted her right hand and shaped it like a pistol.

BANG!

Her red lips parted as she spoke in an incredibly melodious voice.

From her fingertip, an extremely tiny water sphere slowly drifted out, gliding toward the dense swarm of mercury bullets.

At the instant the water sphere touched one of the mercury bullets, everything around them seemed to turn gray for a moment.

Time felt frozen.

Then, countless streams of mana from the air flooded into the water sphere and then exploded violently.

The greatest difference between the Age of Gods and the modern era lay in the density of mana.

The denser the mana, the harder it was for ordinary people to survive, and correspondingly, the more terrifying the combat power of mages from the Age of Gods.

Even a simple water sphere, in Morgan le Fay's control, had become a high-risk spell modern mages could not hope to reach.

Buzz!

The water sphere wrapped around all the mercury bullets, then exploded.

A sharp humming burst in their ears as the mercury bullets shattered into fragments.

However, they were like living silver slimes, wriggling as they slowly crawled back toward Kayneth's feet, gathering again.

"Mercury that can't be destroyed no matter what? Although you're young, among the modern magi you truly could be called a genius," Morgan le Fay watched the scene and spoke calmly in admiration.

Gareth, standing to the side, watched as well, then glanced carefully toward the entrance of the alley and whispered, "Mother, with such a big commotion, if the Knights of the Round Table hear…"

Not long ago, Gawain and Agravain had just patrolled past this street. If they heard the noise here…

"Let them hear."

Morgan le Fay stared quietly ahead and said calmly, "We'll have to deal with them sooner or later anyway. Besides, I haven't seen them for several years."

'Mother?'

Hearing the two speak, Kayneth couldn't help but frown secretly as he examined the woman in front of him with uncertainty and shock.

'This girl called 'Gareth', if I remember correctly, seems to be one of the Knights of the Round Table from the Arthurian legends.'

'And the one whom Gareth addresses as 'mother', wouldn't that be…'

As this thought surfaced in his mind, Kayneth swallowed hard, and his face gradually turned pale.

"Don't tell me she's…", Kayneth stared blankly at the woman before him, subconsciously stepping back half a step.

"Morgan le Fay?"

———

Time rewinds to half an hour earlier.

On the streets of the royal capital, two armored Knights of the Round Table were patrolling on King Arthur's orders.

Because a large number of transmigrators had appeared in Camelot this time, the city wasn't particularly safe even within the capital.

However, when two Knights of the Round Table appeared together, it was as if all the darkness was driven away at once.

Even transmigrators who wanted to stir up trouble, or magi confident in their own abilities, did not have the courage to face two Knights of the Round Table at the same time.

Not to mention that one of them was the knight praised as 'invincible', the Sun Knight, Gawain.

In legend, Gawain could even contend with King Arthur himself as a fellow Lord, and the Sun Sword he wielded possessed power of the same caliber as Arthur's holy sword.

Yet from the moment they started, Gawain had kept his brows tightly furrowed, as though deep in thought.

"Agravain, do you feel anything strange?", Gawain suddenly asked.

Agravain caught Gawain's glance from the corner of his eye and replied without expression, "What do you mean?"

Gawain frowned, "Why is it that even though they're all transmigrators, the King only told us to pay extra attention to the few people on this list?"

Although Gawain wasn't personally in charge of interrogating the transmigrators, he at least knew the names of the Twelve Lords of the Clock Tower.

And on the list King Arthur had just handed him not long ago, he saw several names that he recognized from hearing the transmigrators talk.

Kayneth, Reines, and a pair of sisters from the Clock Tower.

Aozaki Touko and Aozaki Aoko.

Agravain's gaze swept over the street as he said calmly, "I've read the list. They should all be high-ranking figures from the Clock Tower… perhaps the King believes that blocking is worse than channeling. Since we cannot stop transmigrators from descending into this world, we might as well try to seek a mutually beneficial cooperation."

Gawain pondered for a while, finally understanding Agravain's reasoning. He lowered his voice and said, "The King wants to change the current state of things and cooperate with the higher-ups of the Clock Tower?"

"Perhaps, but whatever the King intends is not something we can influence."

Agravain said coolly, "All we must do is carry out the tasks the King assigns us, nothing more."

Hearing this, Gawain couldn't help glancing at Agravain several more times, feeling genuinely gratified.

Agravain had always been an extremely grim and cold man. His emotions never showed on his face. He could send soldiers to die on the battlefield without blinking, yet his personal life was immaculate without a single stain.

And because of that, he was called the Iron Knight.

When the transmigrators first appeared, Agravain's stance was essentially "drive them out, leave not a single one behind", something like that.

He didn't expect even the Iron Knight to have learned to adapt. Gawain revealed a pleased smile, "You've changed quite a bit too, Agravain."

Agravain frowned slightly, "Don't speak to me in that elder-brother tone, Gawain."

Although he said that, it didn't change the fact that Gawain was indeed Agravain's brother in the literal sense.

Because they shared the same 'mother'. Morgan le Fay.

Years ago, Morgan le Fay had left the palace alone, and the two of them had not had any contact with her since.

"I wonder how Gareth is doing," Seeing Agravain's cold expression, Gawain couldn't help but miss his little sister.

"In Mother's presence, she should be fine," Agravain said.

While the two chatted, they had already finished their patrol of the royal capital without noticing.

"The sky's already dark. Looks like we won't find anything today."

Gawain glanced up at the azure-black sky, then withdrew his gaze, "Let's head back. I'll go to the interrogation room again later and ask the transmigrators. Maybe they'll know something about the people on the list."

Agravain nodded lightly.

However, just as they were about to depart, Gawain's body suddenly stiffened, as though he had sensed something.

A cold aura like a venomous snake seeped out quietly from an alley not far ahead.

Gawain stared toward the front in shock and suspicion.

'This fluctuation of mana… could it be…'

Agravain saw the change in Gawain's expression, "What is it?"

Gawain didn't answer. He simply stared fixedly at the dark alley, unconsciously holding his breath.

For the first time in a long while, the Sun Knight felt an indescribable fear spreading through his heart. Even his heartbeat seemed to quicken on its own.

Only after a long time passed, as if suppressing a certain fear inside him, he murmured, "Mother…"
