Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

When we got to the party, it was bigger than I expected, and there were a lot of familiar faces. So Rita and I exchanged pleasantries with the people we knew personally and then found a spot to sit. They offered us drinks, and I refused as I would normally do, but she insisted that I drink a little to help take my mind off him. I obliged to her request and then sipped a little, but I'm so lightheaded that I was feeling tipsy already.

So I stopped drinking, and we stood up to dance when I heard someone scream.

"Ava, Ava."

I turned to see who had just called me and then saw Liam.

"Ahh, Liam, you are here? I didn't see you when I came in," I responded.

"I just came in and spotted you among the crowd, so I decided to come and say hi. By the way, you look so beautiful," he said with a smirk on his face.

"Thank you," I responded with a smile on my face.

Liam is also a handsome guy, highly intelligent, and comes from a well-to-do family. He was the opposite of Matheo, kind, caring, friendly, and funny. I've known Liam since my first year in school, since he was in the same department ( Architecture) with me. We talk sometimes, but mainly about our projects or school.

"Can I steal her for a while?" he asked while looking at Rita. She nodded her head in agreement, so he directed me to a quieter place, and then we started talking about random things.

He was so funny, so I laughed repeatedly, and in the midst of my giggles, I felt a hard grip on my hands pulling me away from Liam. So I turned to see who it was, "Matheo," I whispered.

"What are you doing with this guy?" Matheo asked

"Nothing, nothing," I stammered.

So Liam noticed how tight his grip was and tried to release his hands. The next thing I saw was Matheo throwing punches at Liam.

"Matheo, what is wrong with you? Leave him alone–" before I could even finish my sentence, Matheo dragged me to his car, leaving his minions to continue hitting Liam.

He carried me and put me in his car, entered the car, and drove off. While driving, he shouted angrily, "You see, Amanda was right. What were you doing with this guy?"

"As you could see, we were just having a conversation," I said angrily, also

"A conversation!! Anyone who sees the way you are smiling at him would assume you are lovers, you don't even talk to me in that manner," he said with his voice reducing slowly

I could see the sadness in his eyes after he said that, so I didn't respond. While he was still driving, I texted Rita to inform her that I had left with Matheo, and I asked her if Liam was okay.

He stared at my phone to see who I was texting, and continued driving, then he took me to his house.

"Why did you bring me to your house?" I asked. "Please come in, let's talk," he responded calmly.

I was already exhausted at that point, so I just followed him straight to his room. I sat on the couch while he sat beside me and then i just suddenly said, "Matheo, I don't understand your actions recently, so you feel it is okay to ignore me for weeks after everything you've done and then just casually pop up at the party to cause a scene, since you decided to ignore me you have no business whatsoever with who I'm talking to."

"Baby, I've been so unhappy since that day, I don't like the way you always make me feel unwanted. We've been going back and forth for more than a year now. There is no justification for what I did to you; that's something I will always regret. I never had any intention of hurting, but you need to understand that I'm crazy about you, and it's honestly draining to keep putting all my time in without you reciprocating my feelings. You know, when I said I wasn't going to touch you anymore, I was already pissed off, so l decided then that l was just going to avoid you because that's the only way I could resist the urge to touch you," he said softly and also in a low tone

I tried to comprehend what he just said and I didn't know why I accepted what he just said in my head.

"What of Amanda?" I asked in an awkward tone. He held my hands gently and then said, "Baby, I don't have any business with Amanda aside from the fact that she's your roommate. You know, I told you I met her at the club that day, so Sam was interested in her, and all our conversations were just about him. That day, when she came into the room while you were there, she came to complain to me about what happened between her and Sam. Even when I came to your dorm with her, I came wanting to speak to you. I know I also exaggerated it, but I let you assume those things just to make you jealous."

I just stared at him, too stunned to speak. Then he said with a very serious look, "But baby, on a serious note, I need to know now what you genuinely feel about me. If you say you don't want me then I promise I will never speak or disturb you again."
