Chapter 4 - Rumors

I am trying my best to follow the events of the Civil War to an extent. By extent I mean, being accurate on who is on the Old Satan Faction while who is on the New Satan Faction. I already blundered on calling Asmodeus, Astaroth when the latter is the "good guy" here. I dun want to make the same mistake twice. THIS DOES NOT MEAN I WILL FOLLOW THE CANON!

Shirou looked at Kashou and Bakuya, the battle had been over for a long time. It was a relieving thing seeing the falchions in his hands could pierce through a Demons body. This meant that the stronger Noble Phantasms could do much more damage.

His mind peered through all the Holy swords in his UBW, those he had collected from battling both Archer and Gilgamesh. Alexander had explained that the Holy element was a big weakness to Devils and he had a multitude of these weapons.

Hesitation...So much hesitation on actually using them. Angels existed and wouldn't they come investigate the usage of Holy power in the Underworld? Shirou couldn't risk restarting another Great War especially through his own mistakes but if he was forced to use it to save a life. He would deal with the consequences no matter how idiotic it sounded.

For now, Shirou would simply rely on "All the World's Evil" as he always had so far.

He stood on top of the mud wall he had created as the night slowly passed. Shirou stood on high alert; he knew that he had killed someone of importance in the Beelzebub Clan.

The alertness was unnecessary as the night had passed smoothly. Since it was only a purple sky, the only indication of the "night" ending was the townspeople beginning their new day.

He jumped off the Grail Mud and walked straight to Alexander who looked tired still. The latter had insisted on keeping watch with Shirou but couldn't make it through the night. He didn't blame the leader; he was still a normal civilian.

"Could you gather the people here?" He politely asked Alexander who nodded, Shirou felt like he was becoming the actual leader of this village and he hoped that Alexander wouldn't mind. He should ask later...

Soon everyone gathered and Shirou saw their joyful faces; he could attribute it to the feeling of safety that he was bringing. It was embarrassing being Infront of everyone, but Rin and Saber had taught him basics of being a "leader" and he hoped these lessons would come in handy right now.

Clearing his throat a little, Shirou looked at them all with a resolute expression. "I know that we have rebuilt your homes now. It feels like a proper village now but my question to you all, are we truly safe!?!"

This earned a lot of confused looks from the villagers. Some children were even asking their parents but were getting hushed down by them.

"I am sure you all know! This area is ruled by the Beelzebub Clan! They may not be the intended rulers like the Zagan Clan, but they have taken it for themselves! The Demons know exactly where we live, and they can bring a huge army whenever for revenge."

"We are trapped like sheep! SO! WE MUST MAKE A DECISION! Do we hide away and bolster our villages defense to the maximum we can waiting for the inevitable arrival of the army or do we travel beyond the lands to reach the NEW SATAN FACTION territory and make a new home there!"

Shirou watched as the townspeople began to whisper among each other. "I am the most powerful person here, but we are a collective! We should vote on whether we stay here or leave! If anyone has anything to say, go ahead!" Democracy was best thing to do because it would make the village people trust him even more and this wasn't his home. He knew the memories that this village holds for them and wouldn't dare to make a decision on his own.

Instantly once the words left his mouth, someone from the village piped up. "How do we know that they will come anyways! They are too busy with the war efforts to deal with us! We should bolster up our defenses."

"Then what if they win the war tomorrow! They will come straight for our necks! Even worse our defenses wouldn't have been built! It's better to escape while we can!"

"Oh yeah? What if the New Satan Faction wins the war! We would have started moving for no reason!"

Shirou watched as the people discussed between each other and facepalmed, this was certainty going to take a while. He groaned as he watched the adult's bicker like children. For now, he will let this continue in order to hear people's opinion but eventually he will push for a decision.

At the same time in another part of the Underworld.

Serafall Sitri looked at the countless letters that were stockpiled in her office. Ever since becoming a Commander for this section of the army, her personal life outside the war was non-existent. She looked outside through the window; makeshift tents were all around and beyond it were plains a part of the Valefor territory.

Dead Devils littered the plains; the grass had long died from the battles that occurred here. A multitude of holes were made from the aftermath of magical attacks. The ground was stained with blood, and organs that used to belong to her fellow army men.

This battle was meant to be quick and decisive, and it had turned to anything but that. Serafall slammed the table with her fists making the letters flew out onto the floor. She groaned at what she had done. "Great, I'm letting the stress get to me."

Serafall wanted nothing but to go home and go see her family once more, but she couldn't, she had to win this war for her future brother or sister. "I cannot let my brother or sister be born in this war. I need to build an Underworld; they can live peacefully in." She muttered to herself, this was the only reason why she kept going aside from the fact of wanting to help in general.

She had long heard that even during the Civil War that had been ongoing for three months, her parents were still trying for another child. "We won't let some childish war stop us from expanding our family."- Her parent's statement, it caused a headache for her, and it stressed her out, she needed to end this war fast.

Another childish groan came from Serafall as she began to collect the letters except one of them caught her eye. It was a letter sent from "home."

In reality it was anything but that, it was a letter sent from her spies in the Beelzebub Clan, it took a lot of effort to get any spy in but the information that they were gathering was of great importance. She scanned the letter, and to any normal Devil it would be about how the servant from the Clan missed their home but there were various secret codes in it.

Serafall's brow raised incredibly high, in the letter it described how Slyvia came home and left to the Zagan territory. She questioned why an Ultimate Class would go the Zagan territory, and more importantly, Slyvia hasn't come back even after a few hours. The spy suspected that she was KIA, but Serafall thought it was a gracious but unlikely thought.

"Still though, it is worth investigating." Her habit of murmuring what she was thinking will indeed never be fixed.

Serafall left her office after reading all the letters with the intention of getting Amon, one of her best scouts. It wasn't hard to find him; he was resting after a previous battle.

"I need you to scout the Zagan Territory, something of importance may have happened there. Could you do it for me?" The Sitri asked with a cute face which instantly enraptured Amon.

With great enthusiasm, "Anything for the New Satan Faction, milady!" Amon responded very loud.

Yeah...For the New Satan Faction...Totally man.

"Great!" Serafall said, grateful of his easy acceptance. It had been barely a month since she had been promoted as Commander and her negative mind thought the soldiers had not yet accepted her, but it seems like it was in all in her head.

She explained the circumstances and added multiple times that it was okay to retreat if Amon sensed even a small presence that was related to Slyvia, she didn't want a precious member of her race to die.

Serafall watched him run off into the distance and her heart was full of mixed feelings. She was aware that the Old Satan Faction would enslave Low-Class Devils and make them work. She was also aware of how they punished their slaves if they couldn't do their work.

It was her greatest shame, but she wasn't able to save them. She had bigger worries to deal with, and it was ending the war. If leaving a few to die from her race would allow them to finish the war faster, than...She would handle all the punishment from these actions.

Her heart was made of crystal ice for a reason.....

Serafall looked at the battlefield plains and knew that Damaidosu Asmodeus would strike another attack soon. Countless more of her people would die in this upcoming battle....

'For my brother or sister that would be born in the future.'
