Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 – The Stone of Endless Bargains

After containing the Shy Guy and securing another anomaly that could have devastated this era, the system rewarded me with a respectable amount of points. Enough, in fact, for me to finally purchase something I had been eyeing for a very long time: the Philosopher's Stone from the Harry Potter universe.

Most people think of the Stone as a glorified gold‑making machine. That's what wizards obsessed over in their limited worldview—transmuting base metals into gold. But the real power of the Philosopher's Stone goes far beyond that childish obsession. Its alchemical core allows the transmutation of any material into any other material. Steel to vibranium. Iron to platinum. Wood into polished diamond. Dirt into pure silver. Even exotic alloys could potentially be replicated once we understood their properties.

In short, the Stone wasn't just alchemy—it was the ultimate manufacturing device.

But the real reason I bought it wasn't for materials. No, its most valuable feature was the Elixir of Life.

While nowhere near the level of SCP‑006—which literally rewinds biological aging—the Elixir still granted prolonged life, stretching a human lifespan far beyond natural limits. It didn't prevent aging, didn't restore youth, but it slowed decline enough that someone could live several centuries if properly dosed.

And that ability? That was political currency.

In the future—when kingdoms rose, nobles clawed for influence, empires sought any advantage, and the rich prayed desperately for more years—being able to offer extended life would make us untouchable. The Foundation could operate with freedom, secrecy, and a frightening level of autonomy if the right individuals were properly… incentivized.

So, preparations began.

Deep beneath Site‑01, in one of the more secure alchemical laboratories, we set up a new production wing entirely dedicated to creating and storing the Elixir of Life. Orochimaru oversaw the biological safety protocols with the same meticulous obsession he gave to all living subjects. Jack Bright reviewed the storage procedures, and even Doctor Gears—emotionless as ever—offered structural recommendations to ensure no unauthorized party could ever access it.

Because this wasn't just another anomalous item. This was leverage. This was power. This was a bargaining chip that would let us move nations like pieces on a chessboard.

And I planned to stockpile a lot of it.

We transmuted the necessary alchemical reagents with the Stone, removing centuries of difficulty from the traditional process. Production became efficient, clean, and perfectly controlled. Within a month, we had dozens of vials stored in reinforced vaults. Within a year, we'd have hundreds.

Most would remain unused until we reached the era of kings, nobles, and early empires—when deals could be struck in shadowed halls and whispered negotiations.

I wasn't preparing for today.

I was preparing for the world that would eventually arise around us…A world where the Foundation would remain an invisible power behind thrones, empires, and nations.

And the Philosopher's Stone was the cornerstone of that future.
