Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 — The Age of Firearms

It took two grueling, exhausting, genius-filled years, but we finally did it.

Modern guns.

Not crude matchlocks. Not early black-powder muskets. Not primitive cannons.

Actual, 21st-century rifles and pistols, manufactured with precision-engineered barrels, modern firing mechanisms, and magazines that actually worked. No more gunpowder flasks, no more loading rods, no more smoke clouds announcing our position to the world.

We now had assault rifles, semi-auto pistols, sniper prototypes, and even the beginnings of proper ammunition production lines. Bullets. Casings. Propellants. We recreated it all.

And with our resources, our immortal workforce, and my disgustingly upgraded intelligence, our technological level in certain areas had finally reached parity with the modern world.

Not everywhere, of course—transport was still medieval, infrastructure basic, and the rest of the world hopelessly stuck in the dark ages. But our Foundation?

We were becoming a hidden superpower.

Those two years didn't pass quietly, either. The yearly SCP summons continued—thankfully still safe ones.

SCP-005 — The Skeleton Key

A deceptively simple key capable of opening any lock.Doors, safes, anomalous containment cells—it didn't matter. The Skeleton Key could bypass all of it.

Immediately, we secured it in Site-17.

My site.

SCP-662 — "Mr. Deeds"

A personal butler in the form of a polite, efficient, and utterly loyal anomalous servant. With a single ring of the tiny silver bell, Mr. Deeds would appear—ready to perform nearly any task with supernatural skill.

Also stored in Site-17.

And yes, I absolutely took advantage of having my own personal butler when I needed it. Even Doctor Bright admitted it was convenient.

To the outside world, we no longer existed. To the medieval kingdoms, we were myths. To ourselves, we were unstoppable.

Site-17 had grown into a technological fortress—hidden beneath layered illusions, guarded by elite task forces, powered by electricity, and now armed with true modern weapons.

And this was only the beginning.

The Foundation was becoming something new—not a reactionary force like in the original universe, but an ascending one.

A world was waiting to be reshaped…and we were finally equipped to do it.
