To find the source of this matter, one must trace back to the Third Eruption that broke out in Nagazora, in the Far East, at the end of March.
The higher-ups of the Taixuan Front were furious about such a massive commotion erupting right under their noses.
It had been a mere fourteen years since the Second Eruption. For everyone present, the turmoil caused by that disaster was still fresh in their memories.
Even though this Great Eruption was ultimately pinned down and contained in the outskirts of Nagazora, the Taixuan Front still moved upon hearing the news. They launched an investigation through various means—satellite surveillance, intelligence infiltration, energy tracing, and exchange of benefits—vowing to dig out the truth.
As for the results?
Just look at Cocolia. She was forced from the shadows into the light, running for President of North America and frequently brushing up her presence in the public eye.
And that was with the secret assistance of World Serpent—that behemoth lurking in the current civilization for a full five thousand years—using deeply embedded spies to cut off critical information flows time and time again.
Among the many investigative methods, the line responsible for divination and deduction was handled by Qingque.
As a survivor of the Third Eruption, Fuli, who had a very strong presence, naturally barged into her field of vision.
And so, the young and beautiful Master Diviner began to unravel the thread from this seemingly innocent loose end.
Remember that glorious resume regarding Fuli, now sealing dust in the Shenzhou archives?
Durandal's soulmate, Theresa's fiancé, Rita's child-husband, the Knight Lord personally knighted by the British Princess, the secret lover of a future IPC Board Member, the object of Mobius's extreme attachment, the lust-processor of the Death Knight...
Yes, that absurd file, so ridiculous that countless people roasted it, was concocted by none other than Master Diviner Qingque—who was currently hanging from the chandelier trying to escape reality.
And the timestamp of its creation was actually before the outbreak of the London "Mist City" incident.
This was highly abnormal.
It is common knowledge that once a target of divination steps into the Honkai Side, the Honkai energy within them acts like a built-in mosaic interference filter, frantically distorting their fate's trajectory. Trying to get a clear peek is as hard as ascending to heaven.
Moreover, Honkai energy possesses an extremely annoying "first-move" property. If someone acts first to mask the causality of a certain event, any latecomer must expend a massive amount of Honkai energy to even possibly eliminate the influence applied by the former.
Therefore, Qingque didn't hold much hope at the time. It was purely a case of "the higher-ups assign it, I do it," strictly business.
But as luck would have it, this investigation actually allowed her to fish out many things that felt like total bullshit at the time but could now be considered absolute fact.
Why was I able to do it?
Qingque had held that report, which even she found nonsensical, with her small head full of question marks.
One must know that the position of "Master Diviner" isn't unique to one person. The Yaoqing, Zhuming, and other World Bubbles also have them, and their level of deducing heavenly secrets is standardized.
The result? Qingque's intel was the most accurate.
This naturally aroused the girl's curiosity, but she did not explore it further.
The reason?
Trouble.
No matter how you looked at it, this thing reeked of an ominous "storm coming to the mountains." And for our Little Sparrow, her main philosophy in life was to muddle through.
House on fire? I take a photo. Life in chaos? I go to sleep.
Disaster looming? I don't know. Worst comes to worst, I'll just hang myself.
If it weren't for General Miao Jian's golden words being impossible to refuse, she would have happily slacked off in the position of a grassroots diviner at the Divination Commission until retirement, never sparing a second glance at that troublesome position of the Luofu's Master Diviner.
Slacking off on the clock is called making money. Working hard? That's just exchanging labor for wages!
Regrettably, while Qingque wanted to "let it rot," her superior did not agree.
In terms of talent and attainment in divine calculation, Fu Xuan, who came from the Stargazer family of the Yuque and possessed superb talent, was even above Qingque. In a sense, saying they were master and disciple without the title wouldn't be an exaggeration.
The General followed the thread of causality that the Little Sparrow had unintentionally stumbled upon and dug all the way down. Without much effort, she found the answer behind that unreasonableness.
In the endless branching possibilities, Fuli's life was split into two halves by a massive watershed moment. One half stepped into the Honkai Side, becoming an ability user and stirring up the winds and clouds. The other half remained an ordinary person living a mundane daily life.
This wasn't strange. Whether one comes into contact with the Honkai is inherently the biggest branching point in a person's route; residents of the Prime World are all like this.
However, in the deductions of those world-lines where Fuli did not step into the Honkai Side, the events that occurred were surprisingly consistent.
As long as Fuli didn't enter the Honkai Side, he would remain a small knight in that familiar patch of land. He would finish high school step-by-step, muddle his way to a college diploma, and then marry a considerate, rich sugar-mommy wife who brought a hefty dowry. They would have two lively and cute precious daughters, and he would spend a life so happy it bubbled over, amidst the smell of home-cooked meals and laughter.
And that rich wife willing to provide the dowry? Her name was Qingque.
That's right. In those calm, mundane world-lines, these two were a match made in heaven.
As long as Fuli was an ordinary person, he and Qingque were destined to be together.
The reason?
Her mom super-liked this kid!
Due to her divination talent, Qingque left home early as a child to study in the Luofu World Bubble, eventually mixing into the Divination Commission to secure an "iron rice bowl" (secure government job) as a drought-proof civil servant.
She couldn't explain the Honkai Side matters to her family in detail. Coupled with the Little Sparrow's inherently lazy, salted-fish personality, she had never been in a relationship to this day.
Her mom was anxious. Every time her daughter came home, the old lady would inevitably grab her hand and nag incessantly.
Over time, Qingque developed severe PTSD regarding going home. She avoided it if she could, and if she couldn't, she'd stay for a bit and run.
The problem was, in the simple values of the older generation, regardless of gender, life wasn't complete until you found a partner and started a family. Especially since Qingque was a child born to them in their old age.
And so, her mom decisively locked her sights on the little neighbor boy, Fuli, whom she had watched grow up.
She genuinely cherished this kid. He was enthusiastic, caring, sweet-talking, cooked amazing dishes, and respected her greatly. Most importantly, he was physically fit and handsome.
The only flaw was that he was quite a bit younger than Qingque, making the old lady feel a tinge of guilt, always feeling like her lazy daughter was an "old cow eating tender grass."
So, the question is, what was Qingque's own attitude toward this?
She didn't object.
The Little Sparrow didn't have many requirements for a husband: a good personality, able to provide emotional value to facilitate her lying flat, sufficient Honkai adaptability so he wouldn't turn into a zombie during their intimate interactions, preferably an ordinary person, and above-average looks.
Yes, simple and unpretentious.
After all, where is there so much passionate love in the world? The vast majority is just plain and simple, finding a pleasing opposite sex to accompany you through life.
Fuli obviously met these conditions. Plus, her mom liked him to death. Qingque, having enjoyed enough of single life, went with the flow. They dated for a while, then got the certificate and married.
And just like with her mom, Qingque concealed everything about the Honkai Side from him.
The reason was still those two words—Trouble.
I, Qing-Ordinary-Que, just want to live a mundane life.
Of course, some developments were inevitable.
For example, her direct superior, Fu Xuan.
For a person with a conscience, the higher the position, the greater the pressure.
This was especially true for the General ruling the entire Luofu. No matter how strong and strategic the young woman appeared on ordinary days, in the dead of night when she was alone, that bone-deep exhaustion would quietly strike.
Despite this, due to her personality and heavy responsibilities, even though the younger Qingque had started a family, the General remained single.
The two had a super good private relationship, leading to Qingque's home practically becoming Fu Xuan's second residence. Coming over after work to mooch meals, drink tea, and roast whoever needed roasting was a daily occurrence.
At such times, a sunny, handsome, considerate, and gentle "warm man" would always place Fu Xuan's favorite "Starry Boba Tea" by her hand at just the right moment. Then, he would smile as he watched his cute wife and her female boss chat about everything under the sun, occasionally interjecting a sentence or two to make the atmosphere harmonious.
Through interaction after interaction, her affection level unknowingly maxed out.
But this was still just between friends. With neither party having thoughts in that direction, taking a step further was harder than ascending to heaven.
Until one day, things reached a turning point.
Just after working overtime on a weekend evening, Fu Xuan, habitually heading to her subordinate's house to mooch a meal, opened the door familiarly with her spare key.
Just as she stepped into the entryway, strange, face-reddening sounds drifted vaguely from the direction of the bedroom.
As the saying goes, even if you haven't eaten pork, surely you've seen a pig run?
Even without combat experience, Fu Xuan, having long been an adult, immediately realized what was happening in the bedroom.
As if possessed, flushed red, she didn't retreat immediately. Instead, like she had been hit with a immobilization spell, she held her breath, secretly stood in the shadows of the entryway, and pricked up her ears...
Once is raw, twice is ripe. After similar events happened a few times, the long-suppressed restlessness in her heart finally caused Fu Xuan to lose control.
One dark and windy night, she quietly activated her specialty—the Matrix of Prescience.
The target was not to assist allies in reducing damage in battle, but to synchronize her senses with that loving couple.
The General, who possessed high moral standards, swore she absolutely had no intention of destroying her subordinate's family happiness!
She simply had an urgent need to use this window to vent the pressure that had accumulated inside her body to the point of explosion, pressure that had nowhere else to go.
Time flew, and another period passed.
Just when Fu Xuan was almost getting used to this routine, on a sunny afternoon, Qingque, looking like a little fox who had stolen a chicken, giggled as she pushed open the heavy doors of the General's office.
"Lord General, you wouldn't want the colleagues in the Commission to know about you secretly enjoying your subordinate's husband every night, right?"
That's right, she came to lay her cards on the table.
To sit in the seat of the current Master Diviner of the Luofu, the Little Sparrow's talent and acuity were unquestionable.
She had long discovered the sneaky things her General was doing. The reason she held back and even went with the flow was that she knew how much pressure the General carried, and she wanted to help her in this way.
It was just that her method of expression was a bit problematic, adopting a very Far Eastern "I've caught your weakness" villainess vibe.
Unexpectedly, what greeted Qingque wasn't the General's panicked begging for mercy, but a pretty face flushed to the point of bleeding, and a shout of mixed shame and anger:
"Qing! Que!"
"You actually—used your husband to bribe This Seat!"
The next second, the instigator felt the world spin. She was lifted by an invisible force and solidly hung upside down from the office beams.
The developments after that became a bit uncontrollable.
Confession, admitting mistakes, and then... a threesome.
As mentioned before, in those mundane world-lines, Fuli had two lively and cute precious daughters.
One had brown hair, and the other had pink hair.
This was the core reason why Fu Xuan could continue digging deeper following Qingque's calculations; she, too, had a destined entanglement with Fuli.
However, all of these smile-inducing, joyful developments were built on the premise that Fuli did not reunite with Kiana.
This time, Su (The Observer) not only observed the parallel worlds accelerating toward destruction via the Second Divine Key (Cosmic Juggernaut) but also explored that seemingly "cleared" world-line—the ending of the main Honkai Impact 3rd timeline was not perfect.
Therefore, he chose to let things be, allowing Fuli to reunite with K423, watching with his own eyes as the boy stepped into that Honkai Grand Stage where "you come if you have the guts."
And so, the Qingque of the current timeline went on strike.
The girl couldn't see the grand narrative of world destruction, but she saw one thing clearly—the Fuli who had stepped into the Honkai Side was wrapped in layers upon layers of dense "Peach Blossom" (romantic fate) threads. It practically cocooned him so tightly that not even wind could pass through. Just looking at it made one's scalp tingle!
Anyway, the two parties hadn't had any substantial interaction yet; they were equivalent to half-strangers. With Little Sparrow's salted-fish personality, even if you put a knife to her neck, she would absolutely not wade into this muddy water!
"Anyway, I'm not going to the Hyperion!"
Qingque clung to the ceiling's decorative chandelier like a startled sparrow, her body swaying back and forth with the light fixture.
She screamed, "And why do you have to take this job, Lady Master Diviner?! Can't you let Yunli and Sister Lingsha go instead?!"
"You scoundrel!"
Fu Xuan stomped her foot in anger below, her pink hair trembling. The light of the third eye on her forehead flickered on and off due to her emotional agitation. She had none of the General's demeanor she displayed in front of Situ Qinghong and the others.
This is how it is with the closest of confidants—a relationship so good that in another timeline, they were close enough to share the same man.
Even if it were the equally jumpy Bailu here, Fu Xuan would at most snort coldly and flick her sleeves to leave. She would absolutely not be jumping and pulling like this, trying to yank the other person off a lamp.
The problem was, it was impossible to do this without alerting outsiders. After a long stalemate, Fu Xuan gave up on physical suppression. She sat back in her chair without saying a word.
Her golden eyes, flowing with starlight, stared unblinkingly at the other party, releasing invisible pressure.
"Eeek!"
Qingque, hanging from the lamp, immediately felt a chill down her spine, and even the swaying amplitude of the lamp decreased significantly.
