Chapter 17 - Neuvillette and Furina's Confrontation (1/2)

Paimon asked, "Right, Mona—why did you come to Fontaine anyway?"

Mona replied, "Some time ago, Charlotte from The Steambird invited me to Fontaine for a discussion panel. Mainly, they want me to share some insights as an astrologer regarding the prophecy rumors."

[Charlotte: So it was me who invited her?]

[Sigewinne: As expected of a journalist—you really know so many people!]

[Wriothesley: An astrologer from Mondstadt… perhaps she can bring Fontaine a new turning point.]

[Neuvillette: Divination is not my strong suit. Fontaine, being able to receive help from an astrologer is fortunate.]

"That invitation was sent long ago," Mona continued. "Back then, no one imagined Fontaine would face such troubles, with the prophecy slowly becoming reality."

Paimon asked, "So, what do you think about the prophecy?"

Mona shook her head. "I'm just an astrologer. This prophecy concerns not only Fontaine, but possibly the fate of the entire world. My abilities aren't enough for something on that scale."

"In other words, whoever left that prophecy is far beyond me—a truly powerful seer. The prophecy affects the world's destiny. It must not be taken lightly."

Paimon gasped. "A seer? That sounds incredible! Are there really people that strong?"

Mona nodded. "My master is one. And among her sisters—the Hexenzirkel—there should be others capable of predicting the world's fate."

"Can you contact your master?" Lumine asked.

Mona instantly jumped back in alarm, raising a defensive stance. "Are you sure?"

"I can try to reach the old hag. If I succeed, I'll let you know immediately."

Paimon beamed. "Thanks, Mona! You're super reliable!"

Mona placed her hands on her hips. "This is something only I can do. Now, come on—praise me with everything you've got!"

[Mona: Aaaah—another social-death moment…]

[Paimon: Don't worry, a third one is definitely coming.]

[Lumine: …You're surprisingly good at comforting people.]

[Ganyu: Will I have embarrassing moments too…? Thinking about Master…]

[Cloud Retainer: Speaking of Ganyu—when she was little—]

[Ganyu: MASTER!!!]

In the video, Paimon delivered her praise with zero restraint:

"The greatest astrologist of all time, Miss Mona! Out of everyone we know, you know the stars the best!"

Mona nodded happily. "Yes, yes! That's exactly how you should say it!"

The next morning, Lumine and Paimon headed to the Palais Mermonia to find Neuvillette—only to stumble upon him and Furina in the middle of a heated argument.

The two stood opposite each other, tension crackling in the air.

Furina snapped, "I've made myself perfectly clear! What more do you want?"

Neuvillette responded sternly, "Nothing has been truly resolved. Any excuses between us are meaningless."

"I mean no disrespect, but you must remember your position—you are Focalors, the Water Archon. Look at this—the list of those who died in the Poisson incident."

Furina reached out and looked at the document. Her pupils constricted.

"These people… All of these people were…?"
