Chapter 93 - 93: Shocking the Phoenix

Rumble~~!

The iron door on the right side of the dining hall, which led directly downstairs, was violently blasted open.

Several wet, rubbery tentacles rolled in, tangled together like a ball of yarn, interwoven into a grotesque mass.

Amid the crowd's screams, the tentacles suddenly split apart. The small mouth at the tip of one opened like a suction cup, clamped over a person's head, and slurped them into the tentacle.

Seeing this, Jean abruptly thrust both hands forward. Her telekinesis surged like collapsing mountains and overturning seas, smashing one tentacle against the wall and bursting it into soft pulp.

A sharp screech rose from beneath the floor.

The tentacles that had been hunting continuously seemed to receive a command. They all shifted direction at once, attempting to strangle and devour the enemy that had injured them.

Jean's face turned slightly pale.

First, her telekinesis could not be fully unleashed because of the mental cage.

Second, the tentacles were truly disgusting.

But as a member of the X-Men, she had to step forward at this critical moment.

After all, the passengers on this ship were either rich or powerful. If she could leave a good impression on them, perhaps the situation for Mutants would improve significantly.

Jean quickly used her telekinesis to block the surrounding tentacles that were closing in.

But then the floor shook, and something unknown violently burst through the deck.

It was Octalus's other two tentacles.

Octalus was simply too large, and combined with certain octopus traits, its tentacles could flexibly move through narrow passages and reach nearly every room on the ship that connected to the outside.

It could appear anywhere at any time.

Such as toilets, exhaust fans, air vents, and even floor drains.

Jean clearly didn't understand this creature's characteristics. Faced with the two rapidly approaching tentacles, she had no time to react.

Seeing this, Luke could not help but shake his head.

Jean's telekinesis clearly possessed Level Five Omega-level potential, but the power she could currently exert was less than one percent.

The Phoenix Force had chosen Jean not because she was lucky, but because her potential was the greatest.

Yet Charles did not dare allow Jean to fully develop her abilities, leaving the early-twenties Jean struggling to deal with even a single Octalus.

"Forget it. If Charles won't teach her, I will."

Luke stepped forward, a dazzling white light flickering on his index finger.

As the tentacle closed in, he tapped it lightly. The white light connected with the tentacle, which immediately began to tremble violently.

Under Jean's astonished gaze, the tentacle segmented and shattered, pulverized at the molecular level by the vibrating force and dissipating into ash in an instant.

Even Octalus, the owner of the tentacles, had no idea why it had suddenly lost one.

"Stop hiding. I've found you."

Luke lowered his gaze. On the 3D visualization, Octalus's head, larger than the room itself, was crammed inside a sewage pipe only a few dozen centimeters in diameter.

Like flowing liquid, it could compress its body to fill the entire passage.

Luke stomped his foot, and the cruise ship's deck split apart from the vibration, opening a trench that exposed Octalus inside the sewage pipe.

Its huge eyes blinked blankly, clearly not understanding how it had been revealed.

Octalus was about to control its tentacles and continue the attack.

Luke gave it no chance to act.

Wild lightning flickered across his right hand. With a casual flick, the bolt slammed into Octalus, and the violent current instantly surged from its brain through its various internal channels.

In just a few seconds, Octalus's entire body was scorched by the lightning, thoroughly dead.

[Killed anomalous object Octalus. 600 anomaly points gained. Current anomaly points: 1800 / 3900]

Luke glanced at Octalus's template, took one look, and put it away without interest.

Maybe he could try it someday when he needed to gross someone out.

On second thought, it was so disgusting that Luke didn't even want to try.

Jean frowned at the charred Octalus, then turned to Luke.

"Are you a Mutant too? What kind of ability is that?"

The power Luke had displayed had clearly shocked her.

Even Scott, who possessed the strongest offensive power, probably couldn't tear open a cruise ship this easily, right?

"No. I don't have the Mutant X-gene."

Luke shook his head, then stomped his foot again under the astonished gazes of the others.

The section of deck that had been ripped open by the Tremor-Tremor Fruit was seamlessly stitched back together by an invisible force.

This was the power of the Horse Talisman. It could not only eliminate abnormal external forces within a body but also restore objects to their original state.

Or rather, restoration was the Horse Talisman's true ability.

"Oh my goodness, that's completely unscientific!"

Zhang Suyin crouched down and lightly touched the surface with her finger. There wasn't a single trace of damage. The deck fit together perfectly, as if it had never been broken at all.

"Did you even restore the molecules and atoms?"

Dr. Zhang also crouched down, rubbing the floor as though witnessing a miracle.

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed this place had just been violently torn apart.

"It's just a little magic. Don't think too much about it."

"What comes next is the real main event."

Luke made a pushing motion and thrust forward. The cruise ship's thick iron wall was instantly ripped open by vibration, forming a square doorway.

A few kilometers away, the research station blazed with light.

Suyin stood up and looked outside.

She saw two massive monsters leaping out of the sea. Amid the roaring ocean, they clung to the research station and began wreaking havoc.

The research station platform was not large. In front of beasts dozens of meters tall, it looked like a trembling child.

"Those… are a Mosasaurus and an alien invasion weapon?"

Suyin stared at the research station, her face still filled with lingering fear.

If they hadn't left with Luke, they would probably be the ones under attack right now.

"They're not Mosasaurs. They're new invaders."

[Discovered anomalous objects Kaiju Slattern, Abomination. 200 anomaly points gained. Current anomaly points: 1900 / 3900]

Luke's expression also showed a hint of surprise.

These two new Kaiju were the Category Four guardians that protected the wormhole at the end of Pacific Rim—Slattern and Abomination.

In the Pacific Rim setting, Kaiju are divided into six categories based on overall factors such as size, weight, and combat capability.

The one currently pursuing the Mosasaurus was the Category Two Kaiju, Chaos.

In Pacific Rim 1, the highest-level Kaiju to appear was Category Five—the wormhole guardian in the final battle, Scunner.

Besides Scunner, there were two other Category Four Kaiju, which were the very ones now before them.

Slattern, a Category Four Kaiju, stood 109 meters tall and weighed 3,500 tons.

Its form resembled a walking crocodile, essentially an enlarged version of the Butcher of the Sands, Renekton.

Its scales were extremely tough, granting it astonishing defensive power.

In the final battle, it once heavily damaged the protagonist's Jaeger, Gipsy Danger.

The Kaiju Abomination stood 134 meters tall and weighed 3,200 tons.

Its body was covered in glossy, metallic armor, and a pair of horn-like protrusions rose from its head, giving it the appearance of a raging bull.

This one was a strength-type combatant, but due to its body structure, it suffered heavy drag in the water and moved relatively slowly.

During one battle, it forced the Jaeger Striker Eureka to self-destruct along with it.

"If Slattern and Abomination have both appeared, doesn't that mean Scunner is nearby too?"
