Back in her room, Soyeon clutched Lady Xia's hand, her voice a broken whisper as she recounted the horror to her only friend since she arrived.
"I can't do it anymore," Soyeon sobbed. "The investigations...the planning to stop her evil plans. I give up, Lady Xia. She can have the empire. I'm so scared, Lady Xia, se has tried to have you killed, tried to kill me" She hiccuped. "I can not do it anymore, Xia. I can't".
Lady Xia's watered with unshed tears as she squeezed her friend's hand. She had never seen Su Yan look this broken and sad.
"That cruel evil woman." She spoke, shaking her head vehemently. She pulled Soyeon into her embrace, and Soyeon let out a tremulous exhale, trying to steady herself.
"I understand you, Su Yan. You really should rest. I do not want you to bring any more harm to yourself." She whispered, and Soyeon nodded. She couldn't continue. It was all getting so bleak and hopeless.
