"One minute?!"
Lily Martins exploded.
Before her brain could catch up, her body had already moved.
She grabbed Jacob Cross's wrist and pressed his palm firmly against her back, where the fabric of her clothes was completely soaked through.
"Do you think one minute is enough?" she demanded, voice sharp with irritation.
"I'm drenched!"
Jacob froze.
The heat of her body seeped straight through the thin layer of clothing, unfiltered, undeniable. His fingers stiffened instinctively, every nerve screaming danger.
His jaw clenched.
Did this woman have no concept of boundaries?
"Let go," he said sharply, finally opening his eyes.
"No," Lily replied stubbornly.
"Unless you want to kick me out of the car."
Her grip tightened slightly, as if daring him.
Jacob inhaled slowly.
His body reacted—against his will.
He looked away, refusing to meet her gaze.
"I'll say it again," he warned, voice low and dangerous.
"Let. Go."
"No!"
