Jason's eye twitched.
Jason let go of her waist—finally—and Lily sighed in relief, slumping against the cushions like melted jelly.
But then he stood, brushing invisible dust from his sleeves. "I'll drive you to your practice session today."
"HAH?"
"I want to see your condition myself."
"WHY?!" Lily grabbed the armrest like it was a lifeline.
Jason gave her a blank stare, as if the answer was obvious.
"Because you can't walk."
"I CAN walk!" Lily insisted and immediately stood up—
Her legs trembled.
Her knees buckled.
She fell directly forward—into Jason's chest.
Thud.
Her face pressed against his suit.
Jason's hand instinctively wrapped around her waist, steadying her.
Lily blinked.
Jason blinked.
"Let go!" she shrieked.
"You fell on me."
"You caught me!"
"I reacted."
"Well react less!"
Jason didn't reply.
But his hand slipped away a second too late.
Lily stormed toward the hallway—dramatically limping, dramatically annoyed—but her ears were burning hot.
